Okay, I’ve decided to not use these.
Part of my plan was to also build a stand for it, but I was hesitant because I don’t really have the space to store it when not in use.
So I had a rejig of one of my workstations and bolted it to that instead.
Then I knocked up a *really* rough splash plate out of OSB to catch any detritus.
I’m pleased with the original guards I made and the work I put into them, I just changed direction!
Interestingly, this works, but will drain the battery within an hour...
Also, the converter is only converting down, so no 15V or 20V output when the input is 12V.
Oh, and 140W by port is obviously nonsense...

Randomly bought a wood and brass compass on eBay - I just liked the look of it!
Started cleaning it up today!
Second built. Both sprayed black.
Being forced to take annual leave 😡.
Building a shroud for my polisher. At the moment it spits any excess out the back and cakes everything.
I started out making a cardboard template for it as it involves curves and angles!
Then I started bending the metal for it. I’m using 0.5mm steel, which are actually kick plates for doors. For the side bends, I scored the outside of the bends and then used a steel angle to bend it round.
Tin snips made easy work of cutting through the side bends to allow an overlap for the main folds, which I then pop-riveted into place. I deviated from the template here and angled the ends rather than keeping them square.
The mounting bracket was fiddly and I first mounted it in the wrong place, so I have some “spare” holes in it!
I intend spraying it and I’ve got some edge trim to go round it.
I’m pleased with how it came out. Hopefully it’ll do what I want it to!
