Side view of a tiny tonk/tank, scratch built from plastic waste. The figure was primed matt black and then drybrushed. Its very crusty and looks a bit like something is growing on it.

Other side of the drybrushed tonk. The front is dominated by some kind front facing laser cannon or drill, the top is a round, spherical turret with a stubby upwards facing gun barrel, like a mortar or something.

Also this just arrived. I'm not sure if I'll ever get it onto the table since it's all about scratch building but I couldn't not get a copy just for how lovely it is. Made by Bill Making Stuff of YouTube fame(?) And Apocrypha_Now who is the creator of Tonks.

...finally the Mk. IV #Tonk, the weirdest of the bunch. This one is well over sized but was a fun build and I learnt some stuff for future builds. (More info on what you can see here in the alt text).

A grey primed model of a SF styled (built at 15mm/20mm scale) "super tank". With small military SF scale figures surrounding it. This was an attempt at trying something slightly different, rather than the usual tank-like turret gun, I wanted to go for the more Marvin the Martian style pop out laser on an articulated arm. The arm came from a old broken miniature clip on bookmark lamp. And the huge exhaust on the side is a milk carton handle, perforated by old plastic straws.

Made primarily from an old sellotape dispenser, split apart and widened with a single large central track added to give it a bit of a Kugelpanzer vibe. I eventually added the side tracks and Appleseed style aerials as an after thought.

A detail shot of the rear of the same model. Here we can see a small gun emplacement at the back in which one of the scale figures has been placed.

Here is the model before priming, you can clearly see the corrugated card used for the tracks (corrugation emphasised by dragging the strips against a rule edge, as you might when curling ribbon. It increases the indentations giving a basic track feel. The sellotape dispenser is also visible and the wooden craft sticks used as aerials.

#Tonk Mk. V ...had fun figuring out how to get this one to "stand up" like that, so as to reveal it's underbelly/track. Anyway, yet another pile of fun scrap plastic, wire, card and glue.

Another roughly 15/20mm Tonk build. All made out of stuff from my junk plastic and craft stuff trays. The centre track on this one is finished off with those tiny clothes pegs for pinning notes up.

We had fun this weekend, as we had a bunch of friends over for our gaming weekender (#BeardMoot). I'd been hoping to get some #Tonks (#scratchbuild tanks for a #tabletop game devised by @apocrypha_now) built in time for a play through or two between other TtRPG sessions, but deadlines following being ill pushed my plans back, so I worked on them on the two mornings before everyone was up and managed to get two finished ready for a game Sunday morning...

A scratchbuild "Tonk", oversize for the real rules, but I was rushing the build so had to settle. Still it worked. Here it's pictured with 15mm figures for scale.
It appears as a large bulky grey painted tank with futuristic soldiers running alongside.

I think this one is my favourite.

"Tonk" game mid play through... I used some of my scratch built 35mm D&D terrain and a slightly larger board, and it all seemed to work. The play through was great fun.

Here you can see the two "Tonks" on the board, both unpainted. Just primer grey.

TONK 2/2 - Merry Maker

While not my favorite of the two #Tonks I've built for my gaming group's #Tonksgiving event, I am happy with how it turned out. Unlike Chivalry's End, Merry Maker had a prolonged ugly stage due to its paint job being largely primer with a wash over it.
