Tony Abbott was one of the worst Australian PMs in recent times. I know we've had a parade of absolute fools in the 10 years since him, and we've been blindsided by the smug incompetence of Scott Morrison, but it's worth remembering Tony Abbott's time as our national leader.

Kevin Andrews was a fundie christian who used his position on the hard-right wing of a RWNJ party to force his extremist religious views onto the people of Australia. He was a bootlicker to several terrible Prime Ministers, pushed faith-based bills through Parliament that took-away the rights of people to fairness and dignity, and he abused his trust of the electorate to enact terrible damage on the social and political landscape for 31 years.
You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. Kevin Andrews is missed by cretins like The Mad Monk, Tony Abbott. But, I doubt many other Australians will mourn the passing of Kevin Andrews. Good riddance.

Vincent Namatjira is in the news again because Gina Rinehart is a truly awful person.
I think his painting is a pretty good likeness. It's recognisable to the point of being iconic. It captures her disdain for Black people perfectly, just as his painting of Tony Abbott captured the fake smile and witless eyes of our former Prime Minister.
I want to congratulate the ABC journalist who appears to have found the reference photo used by the artist, Vincent Namatjira, and put the photo side-by-side with the painting.
Compare them.
Before you say "This painting is not a good likeness" or "The artist is trying to make her look ugly", look at both images.
Now, look at the shit Gina Rinehart has done to the land with her resource extraction while making herself one of the richest people in the world with an estimated wealth of $30 billion.
And, look at Gina Rinehart's refusal to separate herself from her father's appallingly racist words.

The Mad Monk's finest moments came when you could tell he'd been rehearsing in a mirror for hours, or reading an autocue, or nodding-along and following a voice coaching him patiently through an earpiece, and yet he still managed to flub his lines.
