I swear, it's not that I'm "old", but rad, alt, tattoo art scene events really don't have to play the music that loud! Couldn't even talk, and the event was corraled into a Courtyard! Too bad, that art was gorgeous and the people felt like home, and it it were more low volume (at least in the early hours) we'd have stayed and socialized. Maybe bought raffle tickets.

This Morning I saw someone on the phone video calling with his kid and wife through sign language. I was, and still am, really touched seeing this.
After seeing this, as someone who is very sensitive when it comes to acoustic perception and is easily overwhelmed when there’s too much noise around, I dream of a world where no one talks anymore and instead everyone communicates through sign language.

This would bring huge benefits (in my opinion) such as:
* Our attention would be much more devoted to the person we are communicating with, as we would have to perceive and filter fewer stimuli (it is easier to control our gaze than our hearing).
* The competition to be louder than the others in order to be heard would disappear
* It’s a lot easier to close your eyes than (completely) shut your ears to pause and escape the world
* Children are able to communicate through visual signs much earlier than verbally

I don't want to sound harsh and I hope nobody takes this the wrong way. But it's moments like this morning that make me envy people like that for the lack of hearing they have.

The world is so polluted by human noise.

I think, I will start learning sign language.

Over 3 hours of mowing right outside my house is a #sensory overload nightmare. It’s absolutely #tooloud and I have no idea why it’s taking so long. My noise canceling headphones hurt to wear that long. Ack.

@DonCarlitos Been complaining about this for a while now. My audio background recognized the trend towards exposed utilities (no drop ceilings) and hard surfaced everything was making bars & restaurants louder. The best places I've seen with this modern design also hang sound deadening panels. #tooloud

Bring back the "attenuate" button #ATT #tooloud I want to hear the ads just loud enough to notice when they're over w/o having to stand on the vol(-) button for four seconds.

Was in a busy bar restaurant that had: ✅padded seats
✅drop ceiling
✅carpet flooring
✅the ability to hear your friends without shouting

If you're going to do the modern 'hard everything with exposed utilities' then please at least hang some sound deadening panels.
