Great couple: tex #shura #keyboard and #ploopy adept #trackball.

#hacking an old mouse into a #trackball because why not. Already removed the wheel and switches. Will replace them with keyboard switches and mount them off to the side somewhere. Need to figure out a home for the scroll wheel too. Might try and convert it into a horizontal dial instead. Also hacked off the usb port and replaced it with female usb-c. #trackballs

Der nächste Arbeitstag nach "Wirf alles in den Rucksack und fahr ins Büro, Rückweg dann nochmals!" ist ein Tag an dem das Reinigen des #Trackball so dringend ist wie sonst selten. :-/

Für mich nach wie vor eines der ergonomischsten Eingabegeräte am Rechner: ein #trackball, bestenfalls mit symmetrischem Design.
Für die Arbeit mit komplexeren Apps wie #blender braucht es allerdings Scrollrad und mittlere Maustaste.
Unter #gnome kein Problem, passende Schemata sind schon on Board und lassen sich mit zwei Zeilen aktivieren:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.trackball middle-click-emulation true
$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.trackball scroll-wheel-emulation-button 8

wrote a driver level mouse accelerator thingy for my trackball. it actually turned up quite good, look up tables instead of math and everything.

and it feels great too, i can throw the cursor easily to the other side of the screen with one fast move

Tanie nie będzie więc może i dobrze że wziąłem tego Elecoma... chociaż ciężko się przesiąść - prawie jak z myszki na trackballa.

Ta dodatkowa rolka (a raczej dwie żeby mieć i leworęcznych z głowy) to nie widzę za bardzo sensu.
Bardziej mnie chyba ciekawi w tych starszych modelach scrollowanie nie pierścieniem ale samą kulką (bo pierścienia brak - swoją drogą to super sprawa ten pierścień choć taki jakiś nie do końca super zrobiony w moim Expercie). Mogę podejrzewać że to wcale nie jest takie super ale też podejrzewam że dało by się to też jakoś softwareowo i u mnie sprawdzić.

Jednak większy może więcej ale chyba spróbuję się przyzwyczaić. Jeden będzie w mieście drugi na wsi. Kensington (ten po prawo) mam parę lat nie jest bez wad ale wygodny jak wysiedziany fotel. Ten mały Elecom... Ja i tak zwykle używam 2 klawisze więc szału nie będzie że tu mam ich więcej.
Natomiast może będzie problem z przyzwyczajeniem się bo to dość mocno inne umiejscowienie tych 2 przycisków. Do tego pokretlo od scrolla takie ze skokami/głośniejsze czego nie jestem fanem.

Erano anni che non provavo un oggetto così ergonomico e che mi dona quella sensazione di controllo "laser" come questa #trackball #mouse (ma che mouse non è) cinese da 28 Euro. È addirittura più comoda sia della Trackman Marble della Logitech, che della Orbit di Kensington. Non posso più farne a meno...

Mam stary model i ostatnio myślałem czy nie mieć jednego na wsi i drugiego we mieście bo zawsze dodatkowy bagaż a schody ruchome w Olsztyńcu wąskie.
I oto i nowy #trackball #kensington - nie podoba mi się liczba przycisków bo teraz mam 4 i w sumie używam 2. Ale jeśli pierścień do scrolla nie byłby taki marny jak w moim modelu to mógłbym pomyśleć jak już wyjdzie na rynek.

A tiny bedside table holding a monitor, a colorful 3d printed trackball, and a CNCed bamboo keyboard. It looks like a really tight fit, everything is really crammed on there. A normal mouse or keyboard, let alone both, would clearly not work in this space.
