Here comes Byron's DGAF, stinking his way past two schools and over a hill to avoid some traffic signals on the way to make a U-turn and then fill a yard with fumes on the other side of the neighborhood. Shovels sticking out behind the foldaway mirror probably won't fold the same. Might need a #trafficEngineer to look at what traffic this Local Service Traffic Street is carrying. #BanCars #SafeRoutesToSchool

To add insult to the injury and death caused by despicable drivers and the govt failing to hold them accountable, is even more distraction from the questions that should be put to the #trafficEngineer responsible for the infrastructure that did it.

I had a split second to decide to go behind and left of the truck but the #trafficEngineer had weeks or months to make a better decision that wouldn't ever leave somebody on a bike in that position.

In what addled state does a #trafficEngineer aim a STOP sign at crosswalk users who have the right of way? Do you expect pedestrians to stop and yield to drivers at this crosswalk? Besides being meaningless under state crosswalk law, it also goes against the Oregon bicycle design guide, which clearly states that bikeways are given priority at minor street crossings.

since my last query worked so well, are there any #TrafficEngineer's here? I want to know:

does primary lantern placement affect safety? (i.e. on near v far side of the intersection)

I've been completely fascinated by lantern placement since I moved from the US to the EU, but I don't know the lingo to search for on goog scholar. #transit

my theory is that EU, with lanterns on near side, forces the driver to rescan the intersection before moving, Vs US where they're potentially too confident?

A birdsite friend asked what local #pedbike improvements I'm most happy about in 2022. #ChapelHillNC did a lot of big things this year, but my favorite is a simple ped signal on a side street that now defaults to "walk."
This town went for a long time without a licensed #TrafficEngineer on staff. We've got one now and suddenly things we we've been told for years were impossible are quietly getting done. It gives me hope.

#TrafficEngineer friends: can you remind me what it's called when a traffic light goes from green to yellow then back to green again, with no red?

Bonus points if you can explain the rationale for it...
