A very rare consist.
As far as I can tell, GBRf, who provide the traction power for the Caledonian Sleeper, encountered a locomotive failure and had to get creative with a replacement locomotive. So they rented a Class 37, built in 1965, from SPRS, who are a railtour company in Scotland.
I think the most insane thing about this is that it ended up being the Class 37, a Class 73 as a translator, then 5 Mk5 Sleeper carriages, which were built in 2019
This heritage loco was hauling carriages that are almost 60 years younger than it.
just. wow.

I love Class 90s - such pretty trains, and some of the last trains built by British Rail before being privatised, and they're electric beasts at that. What's not to love?!

EMU Crossover! These two old EMUs are really quite pretty, and their GTO inverters make quite the awesome sound as they take off from stations at speed.

Juniper style! These Alstom units aren't that common anymore, and I saw far more 318s and 320s - on other lines they've been almost completely replaced by Siemens Class 380s, but on this line, the Argyll line, the older EMUs were being used :3

Light-loaded loco! This Class 68 had a fairly short container train, and was headed to Mossend Yard

Route-learning, what an evidently tiring business! Here we see a DRS Class 66 being used "light" (ie, without towing anything) for route learning purposes! I ended up seeing this loco a couple times, moving through the station on different training runs. But evidently the trainer is getting quite bored, as evidenced by them having their feet up in this window!
