Next up for my honoring of important elders and icons for the Trans Day of Remembrance is Stormé DeLarverie. While Stormé didn't personally identify as anything, long time friends said that Stormé chose to "live their life as a black man" and would most likely be considered non-binary today. Either way, I see them as a trans-masculine icon. Even though Marsha is usually credited with "throwing the first brick" at Stonewall, many witnesses say that Stormé's fighting back against the cop's raid was what started the uprising. It is beyond doubt that Stormé was an amazing performer (usually billed as a drag king), but they were also a protector of our community.

Cómo Sanar el CIStema a es un ritual participativo que se realiza en el marco del Octubre Trans. El sistema está tan podrido que quizá parezca ingenuo intentar sanarlo, pero no tememos desafíos aparentemente imposibles. Con la ayuda de nuestres ancestres trans, a quienes invocaremos para llevar a cabo el ritual, queremos crear una utopía transmaribibollo y relegar el cisheteropartiarcado al basurero de la histeria.

How to Heal the "Cistem", is a participatory ritual performed as part of Trans October. The system is so rotten that perhaps it seems naive to try to heal it, but we are not afraid of (seemingly) impossible challenges. With the help of our trans ancestors, whom we will invoke to carry out the ritual, we want to create a transqueer utopia and relegate cisheteropartiarchy to the trash can of histeria.

I found it! I have been looking for a book that changed my life for a while and tonight I found it.

I was stuck in pretransition in the early nineties, and then somehow came across "In Search of Eve" by Anne Bolin buried at the back of my university library. It pays to be a bookworm! I suppose it seems rather dated to people today, but it was the first time I heard about being trans from other trans people (the people in Bolin's study). It was the first time I had a practical walk-through of transitioning. And it took the idea of what a transsexual was away from the distorted medical information I had up till then. I was a kinky weirdo, like most of the TSs in Bolin's study! #trans #transHistory
