Loch Katrine on a very still and frosty morning. The water was like a mirror, and all that could be heard was songs of the birds looking forward to the coming Spring.

Looking across a mirror-smooth loch, we see an island with evergreen trees sitting in front of distant hills with some snow patches on the tops. The hills and the trees are perfectly reflected in the completely still water, as are the sky and small white clouds, giving a strong sense of symmetry.

Beautiful Inchmahone Priory on its island in the Lake of Menteith in the Trossachs. It was founded by Augustinian canons who came here from Cambuskenneth Abbey near Stirling in 1238. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/abe
