Author Asma Siddiqui states she cannot read all purchased books immediately. Life sometimes creates obstacles. The book may be difficult to understand at certain times. The subject might be complex. She owns many unread books collected over years.
The article mentions a Japanese term for this phenomenon. That term is tsundoku. It describes the practice of acquiring books and letting them pile up unread. People intend to read these books later.
Tsundoku is the most recognized single word for this phenomenon. Other languages lack direct equivalents. No other language has an exact single word for this concept.

Kijk nou, diverse uitgevers hebben het drukken met kleur op snee herontdekt.
Het is dat ik geen fan ben van fantasy en probeer mijn tsundoku enigszins te beheersen, maar anders had ik het hele rijtje meegenomen. Twee ervan kon ik echt niet laten staan - maar dat is omdat daarvan ook de inhoud mij boeit. Verheugings, al ben ik dus nog bezig met de stapel die ik thuis al had 😅
