I recently picked up Tunic again after getting stuck awhile ago...it's REALLY good holy shit

If someone is looking for something new and interesting to play, #tunicgame is really good. Don't be fooled by the cute little fox, this game is deep, and has a few interesting mechanics.

Also not easy, mostly well balanced but I had to put down the difficulty at times, might be my reflexes are not what they used to be.

Started up again. Turns out I was basically playing a Level 1 run on accident so that's why it was so hard. Still gotta grind cash to get my upgrades

Turns out there WAS a reduced combat difficulty option without invincibility too...a quick test and it doesn't seem to do anything though, maybe less aggro?

So, TUNIC has been my current game for the past week, although it's taken quite a while for me to gel with (in the end, I had to turn on no-fail mode for it so I could ignore respawning enemies / combat in favour of the good bits), and that's really helped solidify the fact that, honestly, 90% of the time, I really don't want combat in my puzzle | narrative game. Combat in a game with none of those things, sure. (Tunic *does* have a lot of exploration, which is very good) #tunicgame

The rendered image, now darker and showing light rays peeking through the trees. For this, I made a new layer, filled it with the sky color, set it to multiply, and then masked out parts of it to create the light effect.Same as the previous image, but now the statue's candle is lit, and the glow from the light rays are more intense. For this, I created several more layers with using the add layer effect to bring out the god rays. The candle was done using a series of glow dodge and add (glow) layers.The final image, fully rendered and complete with color correction. Finally, I add a bit of Perlin noise and use some color correction to bring out the saturation and to tie the whole thing together.

A rough sketch of the TUNIC fox, a statue, and a sword, all on a gray background. Most of the construction lines are erased, but some are still visible. This is the final sketch, mostly because I didn't feel like refining it anymore.The final sketch, now with flat colors added in, as well as a crudely painted background. The fox, all the light grey bits, and the background are each on their own layer so I can adjust the colors as needed. I forgot to do the sword here though.The sketch now has very rough lighting and shading added, and the stone platform has glyphs added. I very loosely block in light and shadow while removing the underlying sketch. The glyphs were handwritten normally and then distorted to fit the perspective. Again, forgot to color in the sword, but still added the lighting for it anyways.The basic light and shadow forms have been refined into a painterly look. If you guessed that this step took the longest, you would be correct. I paint directly on top of the layers and continue rendering and refining the forms until I'm happy with it, or until I'm burnt out. In this case, it was the latter.
