Finalmente un altro youtuber tra i miei preferiti prova seriamente delle alternative ai prodotti delle bigtech. Tra le scelte ci sono #Fairphone con #e_OS, #Nextcloud e ovviamente un notebook #Tuxedo con #Linux (#Tuxedoos) con #Plasma. Si menziona anche #Mastodon ma è chiaro che il nostro è ancora un po' acerbo del nostro mondo. Se solo avesse conosciuto i @devol e qualcuno di noi, magari avremmo potuto guidarlo meglio. Animado por los comentarios sobre Cachy OS de los compañeros de trabajo intenté instalarla en mis dos Ideapad Slim de Lenovo con procesador i7, ambos modelos de 2024… la instalación falló en ambos; dio error al empezar a descargar el entorno gráfico justo tras acabar de formatear el disco duro.
Con TuxedoOS me ha pasado exactamente lo mismo con el mismo error.
Creo que el problema está en la versión de Calamares que usan estas dos distribuciones que presenta alguna incompatibilidad con algunos ideapad e ideapad slim de Lenovo con procesadores Intel. Curiosamente puedo instalar Manjaro sin problemas que también usa Calamares como instalador… Así que me he quedado sin poder instalar ni #cachyos ni #tuxedoos 😤 #linux #manjaro
Da die Superbooth nächste Woche stattfindet, dachte ich mir dann doch noch das Ticket zur Sicherheit auf Papier auszudrucken ... man weiss ja nie.
Das letzte Mal, dass ich was ausgedruckt habe, war letztes Jahr zur Superbooth. In der Zwischenzeit hatte ich mein Linux System wegen eines Harddisk Ausfalls neu installiert.
DAS ging ja einfach wie noch nie! Autodetect und mein alter Brother Laser MFC-7440N wurde erkannt und eingerichtet. Lediglich musste ich den Treiber auf brlaserv6 umstellen (gibt nur 2 verschiedene) und los gings.

Linux Live USB Sticks mit #Tuxedo Webfai erstellt (einmal #TuxedoOS und #Kubuntu als Reserve). TuxedoOS Stick wurde nicht erkannt, Kubuntu als "try & install" gibt einen schwarzen Bildschirm.
Kubuntu mit "safe graphics" (item 2) lässt sich starten; Bildschirm, Touchscreen, Stift, Tastatur und Maus funktionieren.
Versuch der Installation führt zu einem Bildschirm, der an ist, aber nichts anzeigt. Vermutlich wurde "safe graphics" beim Install nicht übernommen.
Zu fortgeschrittener Stunde eine gute Nachricht:
Mein #Acer #Travelmate B115M von 2014, mancher hier erinnert sich, hat nun nicht nur sein Upgrade in Form einer mit #TuxedoOS bespielten #SSD, sondern nun auch das Maximum an RAM, nämlich 8 statt bisher 4GB.
Damit ausgestattet wird er mir hoffentlich noch lange als Surf- und Chatstation für das Sofa dienen.
Apropro Chat, wird Zeit bei @hatnix vorbei zu schauen. Der fährt schon fleißig LKW in Großbritannien.
Geniales Angebot - ich kann nur allen empfehlen, es wahrzunehmen.
Ich wäre sofort dabei, wenn ich in der Nähe wäre und nicht dieses eine Programm hätte, dass es nicht für #Linux gibt (und dass man erstmal ausführlich in einer VM testen müsste, bevor man umsteigt und es produktiv einsetzt).
Meinen Eltern (sehr fortgeschrittenes Lebensalter) habe ich #TuxedoOS eingerichtet. Sie kommen damit gut zurecht und der Rechner ist schneller als mit dem anderen Betriebssystem aus Redmond.
Ich habe mit meinem neuen MiniPC von #Tuxedo ein Problem, das auch der Support noch noch nicht lösen konnte. #Bluetooth lässt sich nicht aktivieren auf einen frisch installierten #TuxedoOS (#KDE). Alle Bluetoothpakete sind installiert aber trotzdem erkennen die KDE Systemsettings keinen Bluetooth-Adapter und somit kann ich zb keinen BT-Lautsprecher connecten. Seltsamerweise erkennt ein Tuxedo-Live-USB-Stick ohne Probleme BT Geräte. #Frage an die Community hier, wo könnte das Problem liegen?
@midtsveen Not a gamer, but I’ve been quite happy with #UltramarineLinux, a Fedora variant with easier defaults and added repos. It runs great on my pile of 2015 and older Mac & PC laptops, and my 2014 iMac.
Lately I’ve been toying with #TuxedoOS (Debian) on my iMac, and I’m surprised at the boost in speed! Tuxedo doesn’t work on all of my old laptops (expected), but once KDE 6 arrives on a Debian distro, I’m definitely trying it out (if #COSMIC doesn’t lure me away first).
Dann versuchen wir doch mal dieses #Cosmic UI von #PopOS!

Als der PC neu war, hab ich Ubuntu 18.04 drauf versucht - war nix.
Aber jetzt ist die Hardware gut abgehangen, jetzt könnte Linux ja gut als Desktop funktionieren xD
So, alle amerikanischen Streamingdienste gekündigt. Natürlich mit entsprechender Bewertung der App oder Bemerkung in der Kündigung.

The number of mainstream Debian-based #Linux disros with KDE 6 that aren't Ubuntu is remarkably small. Enter @tuxedocomputers #TuxedoOS. Even though it's optimized for their hardware, it runs well on two of my old computers - quite a bit faster than my current favorite, #Fedora based Ultramarine Linux. I'm guessing its due to Fedora's use of SELinux, but I'm no expert.
Looks like another distro hop might be coming.

Basically, Ubuntu 24.04 needs a different Polkit configuration in order for #kde to show the relevant button in the launcher.

I assumed that the near constant crashes of Dogma, my 2014 iMac, were caused by a graphics failure, but now I suspect overheating, as the crashes ceased after installing mbpfan.
However a recent update from #UltramarineLinux has left Dogma in an unbootable state, so I’ve decided to try out a Debian-based distro for a step back from the bleeding edge.
I still want KDE 6, so that means Dogma’s trying out #TuxedoOS.
The install experience has been fantastic.

Durch den gestrigen Vorfall wurden mir meine Bedenken, bezüglich meines #WindowsExit, durch die US Regierung abgenommen. Auf meinem Laptop läuft seit heute morgen ein deutsches #TuxedoOS. Lieber nehme ich ein paar Unbequemlichkeiten in Kauf, als weiterhin die US Konzerne zu unterstützen. Jetzt stell ich meine Hardware zuhause um, dann folgt der IOs Exit. #ichhabdieschnauzesowasvonvollherrtrump

For a change, I have a technical question. Any #linux #steam wizards among us?
Situation: I have switched from #debian to #tuxedoOS and am trying to reimport my backed up steam files (yes, I can redownload them with 1 100th the speed). I made 13 backups for this purpose.
Problem: 3(!) games were able to be reimported through steams "restore game backup" feature. Counterstrike kind of redownloaded itself since a library was missing. All others say "wrong platform".
Any ideas whats wrong?
