Harvesting honey. A video of harvesting honey from PBS OET.
Days late for ##PizzaFriday, but I did just have a pretty good pizza.
Cashier at Aroma Pies in Whalan, Minnesota along the Root River Trail told us this is the last weekend for 2025. Too bad since this week is supposed to be warmer. So glad I've been able to enjoy it this Summer. It was the first place I intentionally bicycled to from Rushford in November 2024 only to learn about "Closed for the Season" applied to more than local bicycle shops.

Didn't have the red peppers, but my spicy Thai noodles dish I made was good.
No LLM (or "AI") was used to make this photo. Unlike the "Indonesian street food package" I saw scroll by earlier today. Found it:
Welp, that proved me wrong.
I've been wanting to try "Aroma Pies" in Whalan, Minnesota since November. There was no way it could live up to the hype. Wrong.
It was so good.
Most bicyclists I've ever seen on the Root River Trail there.
Leaving Houston, Minnesota yesterday and tent camping opened at 2pm and by 2:30 7 spots were claimed out of 10 already.
Seasonal tourism isn't something I'd ever experienced myself before. Spouse had in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
A video from "It's a Southern Thing " about how much sugar to put into sweet tea.
Pretty sure this is how my Grandmothers made theirs.
Baked this in the correct order this time:
Melt 1 stick of butter in a pan at 350 F. Mix 1 Cup flour and 1 Cup sugar together in a bowl. Add 1 Cup of milk. Pour this batter over the melted butter. Add fruit on top.
I added cinnamon (Can't believe I forgot it last time!) added some Pure Vanilla, topped with sprinkles of Turbinado Cane Sugar.
Cook for 40 minutes.
Happy with my Thai noodles (Pad Phed Ghai) with chicken. Thai Basil really does kick it up a notch (I mistakenly used regular Basil in spice bottle form before).
I wish I liked glass noodles, but the texture is no good to me.
Pretty good for homemade 3 star.
So, if you have a ๐ฟ popcorn (doot doot doot do ditty do) air popper, make sure what you're putting in it are actual popcorn kernels, and not the _lentils_ that were *also* stored in a glass jar by your spouse (labels--they're a good idea, huh?)
Realized it just as my hand was about to turn it on.

Closed in the afternoon, but I think still closed for the season.

Same day my wife made a favorite Thai dish I start watching S3E1 of HBO's "The White Lotus" which I see from the opening that it's set -- in Thailand.

Huy Fong Foods is the manufacturer of the great Sriracha sauce.
Abd I forgot, Garlic powder
She added baby corn and bamboo shoots for herself
It was the closest to my favorite dish I used to have weekly at Thai Garden in Huntsville, Alabama I've ever had. Other Thai restaurants come close with their spicy fried rice, but this was *almost* it.
I asked her if she could make a recipe. She said no. She and the shop person talked about how it had to be done by smell and feel.
I love her so much.
Thai Basil, and the right brand of Sriracha are the key.

No Asian restaurants closer than 30 minutes away where we are in Rushford, Minnesota. So after errands there, she stopped at the "Indochinese Grocery Store" in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
She got: Noodles (yellow egg), Sriracha, Ginger, Thai Basil (I did not know there were different kinds), Fish sauce, Soy sauce, Thai red peppers (small)
She added to this dish: cinnamon, little hint of sugar, and onion.
Added red pepper chili flakes.
Cooked all in a Wok.

Butter. Batter. Fruit.
What I made wasn't a cobbler or a stew, but it was still really good.
Spouse said to call it "Apple Yum Yum" when cooked the very wrong way I did it.

Cooked for 20 minutes.
The center had a soft crumble, the edges mostly syrupy butter.
So spouse thought it was just the extra stick of ๐ง butter (It's 1 stick, not a Cup. Oops.) until I described the wildly out of order steps above.
Correct order: Melt 1 stick of butter in a pan at 350 F. Mix 1 Cup flour and 1 Cup sugar together in a bowl. Add 1 Cup of milk. Pour this butter over the melted butter. Add fruit on top. 40 minutes.

Poured a cup of sugar over them.
Poured a cup of flour over that.
Sprinkled cinnamon over it.
Since the recipe calls for cups, I put 2 sticks of butter on it because that was a Cup. Obviously.
Cooked at 350 F for 40 minutes.
Pulled it out after 10 minutes and Poured the 1 cup of milk I forgot into it.
Put it back in. 10 minutes later used a spatula to mix it up some.

๐งต Note: Using imperial measurements instead of Metric.
Years ago, my spouse taught me a family recipe called "A Cup a Cup a Pie" .
I used ๐ cherries, mostly ๐ซ blueberries. Most people use ๐ peaches.
Had 4 ๐ apples . One went bad, so I decided to use the rest on that recipe.
3 apples a Cup? Didn't know, but it was what I had.
Sliced them, put them in a pan (long time cooks are going to be aghast at what I did and do next).

Got ice cream to to eat later, after we enjoy a dinner theater and show: a Raspberry Cheesecake for me, Butter Pecan for my wife.
