Braved the storm this afternoon to do some 24GHz (12.5mm wavelength) .

One contact made with Pete G1DFL over a 24KM path on and . 59+20dB both ways.

IF and based transverter & 1.5w PA into a 30cm Andrew dish.

1.5w x 34.4dBi = 4131w ERP!

Made my first proper contact on 24GHz this afternoon! 108KM through fog! I gave him 57 and he gave me 59 on SSB :)

A 30cm microwave dish and ODU, which houses the transverter, connected to an Icom IC-705. It’s on top of a surveyors tripod, which is guyed. It’s on top of a grassy hill and there’s thick fog all around
