Back in time to August 2018.....

Portmeirion is a super fascinating place! It’s a picturesque village in North Wales, designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1973. His vision was to create a beautiful village that blended naturally with the landscape — a kind of utopian fantasy town — and it really feels like stepping into another world. It overlooks the Dwyryd Estuary in Gwynedd.

It mixes Italianate architecture with colorful, whimsical designs. Think Mediterranean village meets fairy tale.

It’s best known for being the filming location of the 1960s cult classic TV series “The Prisoner” starring Patrick McGoohan.

[Early again this week]

In the foreground, there’s a pond covered with green lily pads, their circular leaves creating a dense, almost carpet-like effect across the water’s surface. Surrounding the pond are tall reeds and grasses, adding texture and depth to the scene. Beyond the pond, nestled among lush greenery, there’s a beautiful carved wooden owl perched on a tree stump — a lovely and whimsical feature that gives the setting an enchanted woodland feel.

Behind the owl, there’s a gentle grassy slope leading up toward a classical-looking stone building partially visible through the trees. The building has columns and a shaded veranda, giving it an elegant, slightly hidden-away look.

This is a beautiful photograph of a wide, open grassy field under a vibrant blue sky scattered with white, fluffy clouds. The grass is lush and green, suggesting it’s spring or early summer. Several trees are spread across the field, but the most striking is the large, broad-canopied tree right at the center, standing almost alone and full of dense, green leaves. In the background, there’s a line of thicker woodland stretching across the horizon.

The scene feels very peaceful, fresh, and expansive — classic English countryside vibes. It shows off Wallington’s estate grounds, known for their parkland and natural beauty.
