It seems weird that they didn't measure known biomarkers of IBD, calprotectin, or c-reactive protein. I'm not an MD, and I know the patients are supposed to be in remission, but wouldn't those be two things you measure in this type of patient population and this group of diseases??

Years ago when I started my web page for #crohns & #Ulcerativecolitis, back in the Stone Age when you had to write your own html, I’d get 2-3 emails a day touting cures, often offering me a ground floor marketing opportunity. The most entertaining was a home kit for a blood filtering process similar to hemodialysis from some Russian guy. Drinking aloe vera was another popular one.
What a flare up in #ulcerativecolitis causes, is many, constant visits to the loo. Then everything starts to normalise and you feel like you haven't been for weeks.
There are odd side effects that happen to me due to the #ulcerativecolitis flares too. I have noticed that I can mysteriously overheat and sweat at night, in winter. In the last week or so, as I'm nearly over it, I have been feeling very cold instead.
This chronic illness I have #ulcerativecolitis has been an absolute nuisance, nobody likes the idea of soiling themselves or wearing Depends. However, fortunately it only happens during flareups. I want to get the word out to others about a small discovery, which may be useful to you.

This is very serious business. Going on memory, my barber needed surgery because of long-term use of medication for Crohn's disease. He died of some complication from the surgery. He had the surgery, he seemed to be recovering well, and then, quite suddenly, he was gone.
