i know anecdote isn't the singular form of data (that's my phrase, for example) but the Verizon FIOS CPE for their whole-house wifi is the first #householdIT gateway/access point that my August lock at the house in PHL can stay attached to.
my #unifi gear is incapable of that and now i'm considering tearing it out for #peplink hardware (HAVE YOU SEEN THEIR HARDWARE THO https://www.peplink.com/products/soho-routers/b-one-series/ ???)
I'm thinking in getting a switch for my rack, possibly the Ubiquiti Pro Max 16
s8ince is cheaper than the standar 16 POE one and I don't need POE from the switch as of now. It also has 2x 10GbE SFP+ ports, which can be handy for DAC connections!

UI.COM support shop has a new automated tech that actually tries to help. Sbhe’s one for 2. Good with network, bad with voip. Replacing core switch as it has no spares.
New utility line is good for edge switches. They keep cost down by limiting POE to enough for a phone, an access point, & a camera or 2. Typically 45W of 60 total from supply, now USB-C.

Beim #Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber lag so ein tolles Etherlighting Patch Cable von Unifi dabei. Eine ganz andere Welt wie diese normalen unflexiblen Patch-Kabel.
Bei den Patch-Kabeln muss es nicht Unifi sein, da suche ich jetzt eine Alternative. Kennt ihr so dünne und flexible Patch-Kabel?
It seems like my decision to run a J5005 based thin client as my rack/network manager PC has come to bite me in the ass. Unifi controller requires mongo 7 or newer, which requires AVX, which the J5005 does not support. Guess I'll just have to move Unifi to a VM on my Proxmox cluster :/
DW is whimpering as 8 year old switches are being odd. Resetting and restarting is not helping. DW is whimpering pitifully after ordering replacements for these antiques. #UniFi #networking meets #amateur #networkengineer
Okay, so the key suggestion was to log into my site from their web site rather than the iOS app. This let me remove it, and then re-add it fresh, which worked swell.
I thought their iOS app was good (and it is!) but that web app is pretty magic...
re: #unifi - doing backed up build-out of network (4 day weekend - wooh!) and I've got everything on-line except for an old AP AC PRO.
Was on shelf for months/years, now trying to get back in service.
Plugged it in, got “Tap to Resolve" in the Unifi app, and when tapped, got:
"This UniFi device is not managed by this console. To reset and adopt it with this console, hold the device's reset button for 10 seconds.”
That takes me back to “Tap to Resolve".
Looping…

So for the #unifi nerds out there - I bought a Flex Utility (https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/switching-utility/products/usw-flexutility) right when they came out to solve some problems I had with cameras (wanted to replace some old Nest cameras).
Finally got around to installing it today, and man oh man - what a delight.
Such a satisfying piece of kit.
Mounted easily, feels really secure, and am now able to run POE to a camera and three small access points at various weird locations to patch dead spots here.
I ❤️ #ubiquiti so much.
This is when you have to put an #AccessPoint in the #kids room and they claim it as their own…
I’ve found some of those glue-on „bees” on an old card from kids. We’ve reused them!🤣
Now… I have even more ideas…😁
I have to order new rack ears for my UDM pro cuz I lost the ones it came with.. also have to order a switch but still unsure which because i also need 10G ports for TrueNas and Proxmox nodes.

Today's #selfhost project was updating #homarr with integrations instead of just apps. Got #Unifi, #Proxmox, #HomeAssistant, and #PiHole done. Couldn't get #Nextcloud to work, though.
