The oldest computer I still maintain is, I think, from 2007. It's a Dell Inspiron that came with #Ubuntu. Today, it proudly runs Ubuntu 24 and its primary purpose is as a media server for my mother-in-law.

I've #upgraded hardware over the years. Still only a dual-core intel CPU (same motherboard), but main drive is SSD and I installed a modern wifi card. It has only 1 GB of RAM! I'm about to change that.

I love an 18-yr-old machine that keeps ticking with purpose.

The new #battery for my #laptop is now installed! Also, I've #upgraded my SSD to a 2TB one! Furthermore, I already installed #Fedora 42 #KDE #plasma on it again and am very happy. Currently, I copy my files over to it again.
I will test out the battery life in the next few days, to check if it is enough for a day at Uni : )

I have a 10 year old #laptop with too slow #HDD, #firefox takes 20 seconds to load, #kitty takes 10 seconds, #nushell starts in 6 seconds, #neovim starts in 10 seconds.
All these time are on first #launch only, all successive lauches are #faster (probably around 1/5th of the #time).
Still I use this #machine heavily to #learn all the #knowledge & try everything. Only recently #upgraded my #ram from 4GB to 16GB.

Soon planning to #switch to #SSD to speed up the system.
