For the first time, I had real problems with #upgrading my #Fedora #GNU #Linux operating system. I ended up getting a useless system (by which I mean, it would boot but would never give me a log in screen, like #sddm, nor would the #keyboard respond, except the power button and there were no #VirtualTerminals to log in to either).

Cool, #RaspberryPiOS seems to have switched to #Linux 6.12 LTS kernel already. Just noticed when re-booted my #Mastodon instance, and all works OK.
Just remember, your Qubes journey needs to go on for a few years...so you can experience the update process of
1. "backup all your files again for the next upgrade"
2. download the new iso and put it into a usb
3. new clean install(yes...) of Qubes OS with the updated version.

The only reason I could think of for #upgrading my #Digitakt to a #stereo version is the option to #sample directly from #Nave #softsynth on a tablet computer. Because Digitakt is a class compliant USB host/device it can send MIDI, receive 2ch audio via USB 2.0 connection (via lighting port in my case) and record a stereo sample directly from the synth. I won't be upgrading anytime soon however, at least not before the new Digitakt will fully support the multichannel recording into the computer.
Once you have installed #OpenBSD, updates and upgrades mainly involve running
$ doas syspatch
and
$ doas pkg_add -u
to update any packages.
$ doas sysupgrade
for the next release.

One machine done, no problems (That machine is running #Mate and I've already seen some bugs that were in 21.0-21.3 fixed)
I'm working on upgrading a #Cinnamon machine, I've noticed a few packages are a bit different, I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that.
I also upgraded a really old machine from #LMDE5 to #LMDE6 that didn't go quite as well, but was easy enough to fix.
I have 4 more machines to work on too
canonical i am begging you please just put together a list of blockers for enabling mantic -> noble upgrades. i can wait i just want to know what i'm waiting on 😭

Good morning! (At least for me. 😊) It’s Saturday, May 18, 2024, and I thought I’d post my first weekly update about everything going on at [NSFW.social].
As of this morning we have:

Server Issues
Some of you may be aware that we’ve been having some server issues for most of the month of May (though they started in April). I’m happy to report that most of the issues appear to have been resolved, but I am seeing every once in a while a situation arise when the application server for [nsfw.social] basically goes into a positive feedback loop consuming more and more system resources until everything just stops working.
It’s definitely something happening with the Firefish software. When it happens the main Firefish server spawns several dozen related Firefish processes and they’re all consuming more CPU resources, and more memory, as they go along.
It seems to happen about once every 20 days or so. So, to try to avoid this I’ve initiated a server reboot at 0300 UTC every day.
I know it’s a crude fix, but you’d be surprised at how many Enterprise systems you interact with from other companies do something similar.
It’s crazy, but it works!
But if you notice that the site is unresponsive for a moment around 0300 UTC that’s the reason.
Server Updates (Patching/ Upgrading)
A new Firefish version was rolled out this week. Actually, two since the last upgrade we did on 30/4/2024.
The first new version came out on 4/5/2024 which just squashed some bugs that were pretty low priority, and since I had just got done upgrading 4 days prior it was too soon to take the system down again.
The next new version came out on 16/5/2024. It includes some minor improvements to the timeline as well as some additional bug fixes. I look to be planning to upgrade to this version here within the next couple of days.

Well, I just completed the math assessment, and it was relatively easy. I got level 4, 354, which actually was a better score than I got on the reading assessment.
The good thing about it was that it wasn't a timed assessment. Time limits often fuck me up.
I dunno what else they offer after they see these assessments. But, if it's free, then I'm game.

I have an older #smartphone (on which I'm composing this; good girl, smartphone) and it works well enough, but it doesn't have the necessary oomph to run some of the apps (T2 diabetes related) that I use to stay healthy. The #battery is also starting to give out and doesn't keep a charge as long as it used to. However, I am in favor of using items as long as they remain useful, as well as the #RightToRepair. So I'm going back and forth between #upgrading and just getting a new battery. What do y'all think?
