The #SIMKL platform needs to clarify what they meant by “All submitted reviews become the licensed property of Simkl.” It's vague and can be interpreted in various ways.

For example, that wording appears to me that when I submit reviews, I transfer ownership to them. The reason for this is they used the words “become” & “property”.

Thus, “become the licensed property” would mean that I transfer ownership then they license it however they want, since it is now their property.

Content is king.

A while back I attended a conference in Chicago focused on startups. One talk explained that all of the big tech companies and social media platforms got all of their value from user generated content. Google search, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc. It is important to understand the value of this content decreases very quickly. Tweets from 3 years or even just 3 days ago do not matter as much as the ones posted moments ago. When users step away and no longer contribute content a platform loses a lot of value to other users and to advertisers. It does not matter how polished and optimized the software is. Users are there for the content.
