How to Spot a Delivery Scam

Watch for:

Misspelled URLs or email addresses (Example: uspus.com instead of usps.com) Messages demanding immediate action Unexpected “delivery issues” for packages you weren’t expecting

If anything feels off, it probably is.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message

Do not click any links. Do not reply.

Instead:

Use the official USPS, FedEx, or UPS app to confirm real tracking updates Forward fake USPS emails to spam@uspis.gov Delete suspicious texts—on iPhones, swipe left and choose “Delete and Report Junk” You can also forward scam texts to 7726 (SPAM)

Today, our mail carrier stuck mail for four houses into our mailbox, so I had to drop it off with our neighbors. I really miss Tony, our Covid-lockdown letter carrier, who was good enough that I tipped him $100 every year at Christmas. When he quit, our route was the biggest route from that post orifice. His old route got split into three, and from the sound of it, none of the three current carriers is able to actually deliver the mail correctly. #USPS #DeJoySucks

Post Office removed the "Did not receive" checkbox for unreceived mail on their Informed Delivery website.

I didn't get my mail yesterday.

Thanks #USPS. It literally would have been faster if I'd taken a bus to a post office in a higher income neighborhood, mailed my package, and taken the bus back. Having two clerks on duty on a Saturday is ridiculous.

Even if there is no mail, the mailman still pops onto the porch and leaves a milkbone for Moxie the shiba...

They have a good relationship, including Moxie recognizing him when he comes down the block :)

Wandering package update: After arriving at the facility in Denver last night, it left for its next — and unspecified — location, then returned to Denver. This morning it made it to the Longmont post office. USPS has now informed me my Nov 1 delivery will be late. #usps #fail #adventure

I walked a batch of envelopes for my #StickersAndStamps project, with most of them heading overseas. As I get to the post office, I'm shocked to find that out of the several drop off boxes that used to be out front, there is only one left. And it was too full to add my letters to. So I had to take them inside.

I asked where they went. "They took those away". I ask when. "Long time ago". That's it, no explanation or actual timing. The have not been gone for long. Disturbing.

Alrighty friends, does anyone work with WooCommerce and experience frequent issues with USPS Shipping rates charging way way too much? This is driving me crazy. My client keeps having to refund customers because it's charging too much. I'm at a loss here. Everything is updated on the back, no errors on the server. Wicked stumped.

I've been waiting for a package today. (Yes, on Sunday from #USPS.)

At ~9:00 AM and again at ~7:30 PM I checked shipping status at USPS and it said the package was out for delivery.

I checked it just now and it said:
"Your item is being held at the CHARLESTON, WV 25301 post office at 4:37 pm on November 2, 2025. This is at the request of the customer."

It says a delivery attempt was made at 4:37 PM. It says the customer requested it be held.

Umm... No. That's not correct.

For folks with USPS Registered Mail experience:

I shipped a box Registered (and also Priority) late on the 28th, with a projected arrival date of November 1 (tomorrow). This is my first Registered package.

The only notifications I've seen are the "USPS has the item" and "The item has left your local post office" and "the item is moving through the network" for the past two days.

This is quite different from the "every step is manually managed and verified" experience I was expecting. I would have at least expected an "arrived at your central USPS facility" (at our airport) message, and a "now leaving your central facility" message (on an airplane), with a couple of scans / updates in there.

Is the "every step is tracked" aspect just handled internally, without notifying the user?

No Deterrence.

Pima County has decided to reduce costs around mail in voting by eliminating the outside return envelope of your ballot. The new approach is to have you sign and provide your contact number on the outside of the actual mailer. As a citizen incredibly concerned with government surveillance, data miners, and folks just stealing my data, there is no way I’m going to put my legal signature and phone number for anyone to see as my mail makes its way through the USPS. Instead, I dropped off my ballot at an official polling location. I am not deterred by this questionable action around voting.

You should vote every time you have the opportunity to vote. It is your civic duty to do this. Do it safely, but make sure you vote. Had there been no drop box, I would have taken the time off from work to make sure I voted.
