I've already bought my ticket to my favorite research conference, the QRCA Annual Conference. This year, it will be in Philadelphia, PA, in mid-February. The quality of the content and the networking are always superb, and I perpetually walk away feeling incredibly lucky to be a part of such a smart and welcoming community. I can’t recommend “what’s wrong with hiring” enough. It does a great job at examining the current UX job market.
This episode is about #uxr and leveling. Take a listen!

“Seeing Like a State” is just “seeing like a social scientist” and I feel both seen and like a total tool tormented (in)to monopsonizing techno-geographies
How do you make sure that great content has equally great design?

Are there any more quantitative approaches to modelling the intention action gap?
Interested in papers where someone has tried to combine e.g. survey and test results to create rough equations or similar...
You know your users. Don't you?
UX research doesn't have to be super time-consuming. Of course, you should know what questions you are looking for answers to and some preparation is useful, but short chats with users on very specific topics can provide more insight and clarity within just a few minutes.
Tried it out for you again this morning.
How do you do UX research?

UX researchers: I've had 3 or 4 testers so far, basically reading responses from chatGPT on platforms like usertesting.com or playbookUX. They get asked the question, pretend to think, and start reading, pretending they are talking out loud. Is that everybody's experience? Did ChatGPT kill unmoderated research?
This week on STEAM Powered, our conversation is with Bec Nguyen, UX Research and Inclusive Digital Experience Specialist.
For many of my guests, the careers and fields that we're in now didn't exist or were just newly conceived when we were at university. So those indirect paths I often speak about were just a matter of course for us. Bec Nguyen is the director of Upbeat Digital and a specialist in UX in digital health.
Join us as we speak about her winding path to User Experience Design and design thinking as it grew as a space, building compassionate tech, and advocating for diverse voices no matter what industry you're in.

"Your users also don’t have any insight into the system as a whole." Something to keep in mind when presenting designs for feedback.
