When I first heard the pre-Eliminator ZZ I was gobsmacked. How such good music they made before Eliminator (album that most non-fans only know). Yes, there are bits and pieces afterwards that are great but when compared to pre-1983 music... no comparison. My friend since 1971 "cat with no name" agrees... Thanks my friend Juha (R.I.P.) who introduced me into the world of ZZ Top.

Can you guess the album?

It's in a beautiful marbled midnight blue but without a clear underneath mat it's almost impossible to see the patterns. I tried at least to catch a glimpse of the blue tone.

Don't get it why this album has bad reviews and never been released on cd. I think it's great and he stepped out of the blues-box to do something different. I like this very much. I saw John Mayall & Bluesbreakers at Pori Jazz in 1986 but I've never heard this album before. My Discogs rating: 4/5.

Fischer-Z are so underrated, I can't believe. They are a British rock group and main creative project of singer, guitarist and poet #JohnWatts. In 1982 Watts temporarily dissolved Fischer-Z and started a solo career under his own name. John Watts has gone on to release both solo and Fischer-Z projects. The original line-up consisted of Watts (vocals, guitar), Steve Skolnik (keyboards), David Graham (bass) and Steve Liddle (drums).

It was released by Harvest on 2 October 1970 in the United Kingdom, and on 10 October 1970 in the United States. It was recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London, and was the band's first album to reach number 1 in the UK, while it reached number 55 in the US, eventually going gold there.

Developed during live performances before recording began, it was conceived as a concept album that would focus on the pressures faced by the band during their arduous lifestyle, and also deal with the mental health problems of the former band member #SydBarrett, who had departed the group in 1968. New material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London.
