A very fun and underrated album for last spin of the night.

Roy Sundholm was a one time member of The Spencer Davis Group, but that is not THIS.

This is a really bright and catchy #powerpop and #newwave album; more in the vein of Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe than it is the former.

The real gem of this album is “Go Zero”, a song so deliriously catchy it’ll get stuck in your head for days.

Sundholm was also in a band in the early 70s called The Ratbites From Hell, which was closer to sounding like THIS great album.

Saturday morning breakfast with my favorite Go-Go.

This album on whole is VERY underrated.
“Rush Hour” has got to be one of my ten or so favorite songs from that entire decade.

I met Jane Wiedlin about fifteen years ago, and she was one of the more fun, unique and quirky people I’ve ever gotten the pleasure to meet.
Somewhere in my basement library (which is in dire need of organizational overhaul) is the “Rush Hour” 7” single she signed for me.

Such a fun album.

They are LATHE CUT at 33rpm, and in MONO.

SIDE A features “Plastik Knife”, and Side 2 features the b-sides “They Shoot Indie Bands, Don’t They?”
and “Ivy”.

Each will come with a free mini-poster, and will be individually numbered by hand.

Just need to finish printing the covers and stamping the labels, and they’ll be ready to go! Once they’re done, I’ll repost them in their final form.

Some odd Friday morning weirdness.

I feel very lucky to have this. It’s very sought after by collectors, and I bought it at a thrift store for $3 in Nashville, Tn about 15 years ago.

Composed by Henry in 1968, it is an electronic oratorio in five movements. It is based on the Apocalypse (Revelation) of Saint John, combining electronic sound and dramatic narration of that biblical text, which is read by French actor Jean Negroni.

It’s been described as “bizarre” and “eerily religious”, which is true, but there’s also something very beautiful hidden in the cracks and crevices.
Running at around 1 hour and 41 minutes, if you’ve got the patience, it’s a very interesting listening experience.

A pleasant surprise find today.

NOT The Wrens record I’ve been looking for over 20 years (The Meadowlands), but still a pretty damn great one.

The Wrens were one of those bands that should have been way more popular than they were, but MUSICIANS know how good they were. The Meadowlands will always be their masterpiece, but this record is brilliant in its own right.

It’s their first record, and you can hear a BEVY of influences, including The Pixies, particularly on “From His Lips”.

“What’s A Girl” reminds me of some demo that a 19 year old Robert Smith would have recorded in his basement after a prolonged mope. That is… before it explodes into chaos.

All of the band members take turns on lead vocals throughout, even the drummer.

It’s just an album of charming, ramshackle alternative rock.

From hearing it when it first came out & we got it in shop, to now. It’s got this ear worm quality too it that you can’t shake & you can’t help but shake your hips.
Danceable, catchy & timeless in not only its sound but it’s subject matter & lyricism.
Well deserved of it’s album of the year when we had our vote for it

On listening to it again I was reminded of a somewhat one sided affair I was involved in.
Aye an affair, a hypocritical one on their part, in which I found out & with myself not wanting to be another number to their own goals.
So this album hit in ways in a living sense, a relationship sense & closeness sense. I felt there was enough material that was directed at me, choosing early on to not be taken as a fool.
Fuck that! Even if some pleasantries appear every so often, they’re still foolish errands in the end

Saw this today and got super excited. And then, after looking at it more closely, realized it was JOE, not Curly.

Fuck dude. Even SCHEMP would have been better.

I bought it anyway.
Because I deserve to be punished.
For so many things.

Curly Joe Derita, who was the last of the Curly replacements, as bad as he was, was a little better than Joe Besser (after Schemp). He was literally unwatchable… as were Moe and Larry by that point as well.

Wait… why did I buy this again?!?! 😂

Almost missed out on this one. It was released November 7 and I forgot to preorder it. Then it took me another 11 days before I had something like aaarrgggh, totally forgot about The Miracle Year box!

But I did find a Dutch web shop that still had it in stock. Pfew.
