Die #ifupdown Konfiguration (siehe 3.1.2) wirft einen Fehler. Anbei ein Screenshot aus dem Tutorial (Config /etc/network/interfaces), meine Netzwerkinterfaces (ip addr), meine Config von /etc/network/interfaces, sowie der Fehlermeldung journalctl -xeu networking.service

Kann mir jemand helfen? 🙏

@ProfessorCode I believe more people are using #kvm based #virtualization instead of #virtualbox. So there should be more, and better guides for installing #virtmanager, #gnomeboxes or using #Virsh. But also why these guides are unnecessary verbose I suspect its because of #seo so the webpages get ranked higher in #google index, and have more views which should corespond to increased #ad revenue.

Does anyone know why the instructions for installing VirtualBox on Linux are so terrible?

It's especially bad for RPM-based distros like Fedora across the board. They've expanded what's essentially a single command to about two paragraphs of instuctions.

All you need to do is install the dependencies and then add the repofile using "dnf config-manager".

Quick update on my journey with the #debian #linux migration for my daily driver. I had so far been able to get everything in my normal workflow working with little effort and little time to experiment until I figured the solutions out. I got #keepassxc , #virtualbox , and #steam set up as well as my privacy tools and #remmina set up for remote connections to my server. However, today, I loaded my cloned virtual infrastructure into the virtualbox instance on the new OS, and found that I couldn't get the guest additions shared folder capability to work as it did on Windows. After a couple hours of trying to get this to work, I decided that I would just do it the old fashioned way and use scp to transfer files from the VM to my server.

Even after the trouble today and the other mild inconveniences, there's no question about which OS I like more between Debian 12 and Windows 11 for daily use. The best part is the extra feeling of freedom I get from knowing that on top of having full autonomy over the hardware (I built this PC), I now have full autonomy on the software side and can customize the OS or even load a different distro if I ever find something more attractive!

I would fully recommend migrating to Linux for anyone that is unhappy with the recent developments in the Windows ecosystem, especially if they're thinking of buying new hardware because Windows doesn't support their PC.

Bueno pues he mandado la instalación dual de Windows a paseo. Estoy super contento.
Me quedo con mi Linux Mint de mis amores, que tiene todo lo que necesito, y una maquina virtual de Windows creada con VirtualBox, para el úncio programa del que no me puedo librar. Adobe Digital Editions. Para el que no lo conozca es un progama de DRM (Digital Rights Managament), que te permite leer libros de bibliotecas públicas en el E-Reader.
La buena noticia a medio plazo es que si Kobo se pone las pilas (y han dicho que lo están haciendo) van a integrar el nuevo formato de DRM, LCP, y mandarán ADE a hacer gárgaras. Que por cierto parece ser que Adobe ya ni siquiera da soporte a ADE y lo está dejando morir.
En resumen si todo va bien Kobo integra LCP en su firmware lo distribuye a sus dispostivos (esperemos que a todos) y coger prestados libros de tu biblioteca pública va a ser aún más fácil que antes.

BeOS 5 Personal edition running , which has a layout similar to the one of OS/2. Since it has good support for VGA, it runs well in VirtualBox.

It has a fancy galaxy screensaver and Mozilla preinstalled.

@juliavithoria Excelente herramienta! La usé mucho, en algún momento me dio problemas para configurar redes virtuales en Arch Linux, y tuve que volver a #VirtualBox.

Voy a darle otra oportunidad a ver si se solucionaron esos problemas, odio a Oracle xD

I can't use #virtualbox on #lmde6 .
The error message is very helpful as most error messages it seems.
According to the inspected search results (with resolved status) there are a lot of possible errors detected which result in the same message:

I can't run any from my i7 exported VM, at all.
They run on my Intel i7 laptop without problems (nvidia/nouveau) but not on my #lenovo Ryzen 7 (8 cores, 16 GB) with AMD graphics.

I installed pure Debian with persistence on USB, but every time I created a new live ISO, it just never worked 💀

Making changes? Took 1.5 to 2 hours ⏳ each time… just to get another broken result 🤦

So, until I get a new computer 🖥️, I’m switching to my old Windows 11 PC (yeah, I know…) and working through #VirtualBox

Might be faster, more stable, and way less frustrating.
