@chronohart I am so glad to see this! I asked my wife for a basic embroidery kit for my birthday precisely so I could learn little flowers like this to cover up small holes or stains. I'm still working through the practice set, but hopefully one day I too will have a mend like yours.

Recent attempt at #VisibleMending on a T-shirt of mine that developed a few small holes. Not perfect, but I really like it! This shirt was planned for the trash pile until I recognized the opportunity for some mending practice, so yay!

Some recent mends!

I ran out of good tv and have been revenge-bedtime-procrastinating on audiobooks, so switched my tv time to audiobook-and-mending time and have nearly exhausted the stack of socks.

Shorty wool socks with reindeer on the ankles. Swiss darning in a neat rectangular block on the back of the heel where it rubs against my slippers.

Teal wool sock. A tight woven darn in pale grey covers a hole that mysteriously appeared under the pad of my second toe; likely the work of a moth.

Grey wool socks (these are favorites and include yak down in the blend). A colorful Swiss darn in tidy rectangles on the backs of both heels, and a subtle more blobular Swiss darn on the bottom of one heel.

Green Henley tee. Nearly-unnoticeable darn at the corner of the button placket using the “bunch of blanket stitches then cinch them tight” method that is my current fave for tiny holes in tshirt knits.

Sehr sichtbar gestopfte Puschen, die eigentlich nur durch verschieden farbige Stopfungen an unterschiedlichen Stellen zusammengehalten werden, in denen Sannes Füßestecken.
Linksseitig noch nicht fertig vernäht, dort ist der offene Wollfaden noch an der Stopfnadel in den Puschen gesteckt.

#Visiblemending Esta cestita, con ese color de pantalón vaquero, estaba pidiendo a gritos una reparación con el hilo amarillo de los pantalones vaqueros, no me digáis que no.

Este tipo de cestas vienen en sets de unos 5 o 6 euros. la reparación fueron cinco minutos y llevaba meses y meses posponiéndola.

Una cesta hecha de cintas de tejido sintético. No están cosidas sino termoselladas, y una de ellas se ha despegado del marco metálico. Al fondo pueden verse unos dados de rol, un teclado mecánico y enseres de costura. La luz es artificial, y mala para una foto; es una imagen nocturna.

La cesta reparada con punto de cadeneta amarillo. Está llena de toallas pequeñas y se ve el mismo teclado mecánico detrás.

No sé si cuenta como #visiblemending o como #mending a secas.

Reparo trapos viejos como una forma de practicar técnicas. Por ejemplo el zurcido se me da bastante mal, pero si lo hago con un hilo muy malo sobre mi trapo más viejo, con manchas de té que no limpia ninguna lavadora, no siento que esté desaprovechando materiales.

Tengo dos trapos con agujeros demasiado grandes para aguantar un zurcido y lo que me estoy planteando es coserlos el uno al otro.

Estos trapos pueden costar entre 1 euro el trapo y 2,50 el pack de 4. El arreglo fue rápido, menos de una hora.

Un trapo de cocina muy viejo, con dos remiendos pequeños en forma de zurcido, uno arriba y otro abajo de la foto.

Una reparación larga, en forma de espina de pescado, en un roto de unos diez centrímetros sobre el mismo trapo viejo.

La cara interna de los pantalones se estropea por dos motivos: el roce constante y que los pantalones estén mal cortados, y la zona tire. Estos estaban arreglados con entretela de la que se pega con la plancha, pero lavar la despega así que les hice una segunda reparación.

Me llevó un poco menos de dos horas (porque deshice y volví a empezar) y unos pantalones nuevos costarían alrededor de treinta euros.

Die Hose hat zwei neue Flicken bekommen und wird langsam aber sicher zum Gesamtkunstwerk.
Wirtschaftlich lohnt sich das natürlich überhaupt nicht und allein, dass ich die Zeit für so etwas habe, ist ein Privileg. Aber es ist ein gutes Gefühl, Schönes zu schaffen.

Yes, a new pillowcase isn't that expensive but I don't want to have to buy some, decide on which one to get, take time for it. Mending the old one just seems so much less stressful.

A dark blue pillowcase has a rip along the edge. It is mended: there's a red and white striped piece of an old (and past repair) duvet cover behind the tear which has been attached with white stitching inspired by sashiko. In this case it's mostly rows of running stitches and some crosses.
