POV: Me rehearsing one of the most iconic and difficult to sing jazz standards ever: Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life"! How did I do? It was such a joy to sing in Istanbul with the CRR Jazz Orchestra conducted by @nailyavuzoglu with @evrim_demirel on piano. 🎶🎤❤️

You're Mine You is a 1962 studio album by the American jazz singer Sarah Vaughan, orchestrated and conducted by Quincy Jones.

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album three stars and said that "Vaughan's voice is typically wondrous and sometimes a bit excessive on the ballads (some may find her slightly overblown version of 'Maria' a bit difficult to sit through) but in top form on the more swinging numbers." - Wikipedia

More Than the Most! Review by Stephen Cook

Another of Dakota Staton's fine outings from the latter half of the '50s, More Than the Most finds the singer working her magic on a varied selection of standards and relatively obscure sides. While maybe not as well-regarded as her famous debut, The Late, Late Show, this Staton release stands as one of the singer's better early efforts. Enveloped in Sid Feller's urbane mix of romantic ballad backdrops and West Coast-style swingers, Staton wraps her coyly seductive pipes around standouts like "East of the Sun," "September in the Rain," and "Some Days It's Monday." Mixing in some of Dinah Washington's muscle and Sarah Vaughan's airy sophistication, Staton ably navigates this fine program of classic pop-jazz.

Nobody Else But Me by Betty Bennett, released in 1955 on Atlantic

Betty Bennett (October 23, 1921 – April 7, 2020) was an American jazz and big band singer.

Bennett was born in October 1921 in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. Her first major signing was with the Claude Thornhill band in 1946, the band in which her husband, bassist Iggy Shevak, was playing. Shortly after her husband left to join Alvino Rey, Bennett followed him there. In 1949, she joined Charlie Ventura's band, before going on to join Benny Goodman in 1959.

Her second album, Nobody Else but Me, featured arrangements by Shorty Rogers and her second husband, André Previn. Bennett later married guitarist Mundell Lowe in 1975. - Wikipedia

Hello Young Lovers is a studio album by singer Nancy Wilson issued in July 1962 on Capitol Records.

Hello Young Lovers was produced by Tom Morgan and arranged by Milt Raskin. George Shearing also arranged the strings and played harpsichord on the LP.

Billboard magazine noted that she "shows off her own, stylish way with a pop song on this album cover over a lush string choir" and declared that the "Lass does a fine job here". - Wikipedia

Old school big band club vocal music. Seth McFarland sings Frank Sinatra tunes with authority and style in front of a huge backing band. These are the same arrangements Frank Sinatra sang at the height of his career. Frank commissioned these for his show.

Back in the day, CBS and NBC would play material like this live while we listened to Cousin Bruce and Murray the K in the evening. #music #BigBand #VocalJazz #OldBlueEyes #FrankSinatra #covers
