Very early in the morning of Wednesday 19th March 2003 I caught a coach from from the bus station in the centre of Cambridge to Gatwick airport to take a flight to Poland for a business trip. It's just as well that I had a ticket booked in advance as that meant I could skip past an impressively long queue of American students who also wanted to get on the coach, some of them crying and trying to force their way on because they thought they'd be dead in 45 minutes if they couldn't get a flight back to the USA.
Gatwick was full, largely of Americans who wanted to flee to "safety". The El-Al checkin was also a bit bonkers, with many security people with machine guns drawn. Overall this was not a pleasant place to be.
My flight to Poland was on a full aeroplane.
I did a day's work in Poland and woke up to CNN reporting that the US had started the much anticipated war, having invaded Iraq, with "weapons of mass destruction" being the tenuous reason. Everyone who was paying attention knew that was a lie. The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, went full in with G W Bush.

Asking Palestine to disarm long term when Israel won't even give up their #WMDs is not a reasonable request.
Whose job will it be to defend Palestinians against Israel? Hamas' #alQassam are arguably counterproductive, but Palestinians need someone competent, not nothing. You can't leave 6 million civilians (12 million if you include refugees in neighboring countries) undefended against one of the world's largest militaries who are supported by the world's only supper power.
There needs to be someone with the authority to shoot back as the Israeli military if they try to attack Palestinians. Someone really needed to be able to snipe back at the Golani Brigade
And what do they even mean by "surrender"? surrender to what?
If Israel export their terror problem by #deporting the #militants and leadership like they did in the 1960s and 1970s then Israel should be held responsible when we see a 21st century resurrection of Black September and the PFLP-EO (at best) if they completely dismantle the current resistance there's a risk it will be hijacked by lunatics like ISIS

I assume this is Israel's idea, but why is the bloody useless toothless #UN going along with this rubbish, they should be sending peacekeepers to enforce the ceasefire, not pulling out the aid workers.

Very disappointed to see Prof. Michael Clarke involved in this. A video published by #SkyNews days ago portrays distances on the #Mercator projection, misinforming the public on the real range of #Russia 's #WMDs.

Records suggest Bacillus anthracis was used in biowarfare during World War II, but evidence remains limited. We isolated B. anthracis from soil at the remains of a World War II–era laboratory in China. Phenotypic and genomic analyses confirmed the finding, highlighting the value of microbial forensics in biothreat investigation.

Labour 'defence' spokesperson John Healey was particularly incoherent on @BBCRadio4 #Today this morning as he defended Starmer's plot to ramp up UK #WMDs the 'nuclear deterrent' and increase military spending.
