I really like the storytelling in Wayward. It does a great job of showing why a cult is appealing, and how its followers are regular, well-meaning people who simply get manipulated into hurting people. It humanizes the cult leader and shows her reasoning in a realistic and sympathetic way, without letting you get too comfortable there. It shows how easy it is for a cult to seem appealing. It shows how close a cult can come to the promise of a real utopia, if only...
It also shows how therapy culture can be weaponized. Because the cult's doctrines speak to liberal / left values, you can really feel how easy it could be to get taken in, especially if you couldn't see everything going on in the background like we as the viewers can.

Indociles est la dernière série pour Netflix de Mae Martin et rien à voir avec sa précédente Feel Good. Iel signe ici un thriller assez classique sur le papier, mais parfaitement mené et plus intéressant que la moyenne. J’ai beaucoup aimé l’ambiance et l’interprétation de Toni Colette justifie sans doute à elle seule le visionnage.
No spoilers, but I'm really loving #Wayward on Netflix (got as far as episode 2, but I'm hooked). A transman MC and some really evil hippy vibes! A must-see!
Mae Martin is in a Netflix limited series called Wayward about the troubled teen industry and I am so here for this.
They don't just act in it. They created the show.
Mae's Feel Good is a highly, highly underrated semi-autobiographical dark comedy series about things like trauma, drug addiction, queerness, and starting a creative career. I'd almost forgotten about it.
For them to tackle this very serious topic as a thriller/horror series... I'm really looking forward to it. Mae is my favorite or maybe second favorite nonbinary actor. That they also create these shows is a tremendous talent.
I totally don’t get the bad reviews of #Wayward. Great cast and acting. Solid to good story. An ending with an appropriate amount of closure, that works with or without second season. Little to complain, really.
