I am happy to report that if you last saw me at #PressConf or #WCEU, I am now 10kg/22lbs lighter.

Feels good and I'm ⅔ where I want to be. Easy does it.

OTD: WordCamp Europe 2013

A whopping 12 years ago today, I had the pleasure of attending the first-ever WordCamp Europe. 🤩 The experience back in the day was quite different from what it is today, but the idea to give the European community a space to mingle is still at the heart of it.

So here are some very rough and ugly graphs with attendance and ticket sale data for #WCEU and #WCUS. Unless the ticket sales for #WCUS at least double in the month until the event it will be waaayy smaller than before.

I assume these numbers to represent community sentiment better and react way faster than market share. So personally these make me quite worried about #WordPress.

After #WCEU I heard many times that the declining attendee numbers can probably be explained by Switzerland being so expensive. I remember the same argument after Paris in 2017.

But that drop was nowhere as big as the one this year. And with everything going on in the #WordPress world I doubted this alone explained it.

I now got triggered by https://mastodon.social/@boogah@simian.rodeo/114904290677651264 from @boogah again and had a quick look at the (very patchy) numbers I could find.
