You might have read the 2024 edition of the #WebAlmanac and wondered how #jpeg_xl is doing....
I had a quick look into the ImageEngine data to see.

‣ AVIF and JPEGXL is about equally efficient when it comes to byte reduction.

‣ JPEG XL has better visual quality at the same byte saving ratio than AVIF

‣ WEBP is great for smaller images, thanks to lower overhead than esp. AVIF due to the HEIC container.

‣ Modern formats at the origin is almost not visible. <1%.

Thanks for the many votes!

The #HTML <output> element exists, of course [1], but as we’ve also been observing in the #webalmanac, not many people actually use it [2]

That makes sense, of course, when people aren’t aware the element exists 😬

Checking out the 2022 by the HTTP Archive. I was especially interested about the section on systems.

almanac.httparchive.org/en/202

There is a lot of insight there, especially when it comes to the big-boys. is (dominating) followed by and .

I wonder how @CraftCMS and @getkirby would rank among those titans.

For , I can say “we” would most definitely be able to compete and even outperform them in some areas. Having a lean, clean system rocks!
