What do you use to collect and display #weather data with a #RaspberryPi? I'm looking at #weewx but wondering what other people are using.
Dear Lazy web,
Calling out to the #weather nerds, especially anyone running #weewx or alternatives.
I'm looking to replace my aged and broken weather station that connects back to weewx with something both feature rich and robust.
While weewx has a list of supported hardware: https://weewx.com/hardware.html it is difficult to sift out the crap.
What would be your dream weather rig recommendations?
Happy to report the Data View is operational again. It has been updated to a newly built subsystem. More features will appear in time. If you see some units are not what you're expecting (m/s vs kph or C vs F) you can always change those using the small menu on the top left of the display. I generally have it set to "Canadian”
Made my first contribution to #WeeWX: https://github.com/weewx/weewx/pull/1002
This place gives me a good opportunity to finally seriously start messing around with #HomeAssistant.
There is an unused security system installed in this house. I'm not sure what it is, but one of the keypads has the Xfinity logo in it. There's door and window sensors all over the place, and even a camera screwed into the light socket on the back patio. Can any of this be used with HA? I don't know, but I'll find out.
I have a pretty nice, if a little old, Davis weather station in storage which I'll be putting up as soon as I can and get that integrated with HA, and maybe set up a #WeeWX server too.
The heating and cooling is much more modern that the wheezy gas furnace in my old home. Again, is HA integration possible. I'm sure it is, I just need to figure it out.
Interesting adventures in the future!

New House Projects – Weather Watching V0.5
I've always been fascinated with the weather. I can still remember the daily routine of charting the weather in kindergarten with meticulous scientific rigor: Each morning one pupil, on a rotation, would peer out a window and then mark down if it was sunny, or cloudy, or possibly raining...

Feels good to have my weather station back in service! Now I just need some free time to finish the #weewx skin changes that I'm working on.
At some point soon, I need to sit down and hack on my #weewx template changes so that they're more polished and also don't get obliterated by an upgrade. 😬
Zur Abwechslung erinnern wir hier einmal an #WeeWX, das Programm, mit dem die ganzen Meßwerte unserer Station erfaßt, gespeichert, aufbereitet und dargestellt werden.
oof it was a damn HOT one today, 42.2°C 🥵 tomorrow is another day predicted to be 36°C or warmer, either though little cooler temp wise but not real noticeable difference to being cooler... sigh
Adelaide is currently going through unseasonably higher temperatures for February... sigh
Global warming or is just natural cycle of high temperatures that we and other place in the world have gone through in the past.
Swap to use the Fine Offset/Ecowitt weather hardware for weewx went seamlessly! #weewx #wx #wxstation
@vees The wind vector map is from an open source weather station package called WeeWX https://www.weewx.com . The vector diagram shows a good wind summary to fit within Mastodon limits, but it also has other wind graphs. You are correct that the vector would be hidden for due north/south winds, but the wind rarely stays in one direction here! #weathertools #weewx
I was up till 04:30 'today', slept less than 4 hours, spent all day fixing the #weewx update, and most of last night. The main parts were fine. sdr, rtgd, and steelseries which was surprising. Installed the Belchertown skin and the fun began but I have it working with mqtt now. DB rebuild/calculate/fix solved some of it. No more red python3.12 text which was the main problem causing errors.
It's after midnight now again, poured a beer, music cranked, catching up here since I'm not tired..
📣 To all PWS owners, I present you the Me.teo skin for WeeWX! Perfect for running on an old tablet on a wall, or having a quick glance at the current weather on your phone.
Working on a WeeWX skin, will make it available on GitHub soon!
I will be restarting the weather server a few times this morning troubleshooting the Data View error with the rain values. You may see some repeat-post on @AlberniweatherBot as it goes up and down. I'll try to remove any dupicates quickly.
Trying to get it back to 100% before the #BCStorm!
