Tonight's sunset on the Clyde in Glasgow looking over the old Meadowfield Shipyard in Partick in the foreground (last ship launched in 1935), past the BAE Govan Shipyard on the left (still operational) to the titan crane at the former Barclay Curle Shipyard in Whiteinch in the distance (closed in the 1960s).

Love these relief sculptures on 1980s housing on Edzell Street in the west of Glasgow. Created by Brian Kelly, they're titled The Modern Myth, and represent The Sea (top left), The Land (top right), Air (bottom left) and Space (bottom right). I think I'm right in saying the final panel includes the only sculptural representation of a space shuttle on the city's architecture.

The Barclay Curle Titan. Designed by William Arrol and Company, and built in 1920, this is one of four giant titan cranes which remain on the Clyde. This one is at the former Barclay Curle shipyard in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. When it was in working order, it was capable of lifting loads of up to 150 tonnes.

The entrance to Whiteinch Homes, Westland Drive, Glasgow. Standing on the west side of Victoria Park, these buildings were originally built in the 1890s for elderly employees of the Allan Shipping Line.

The former Burgh Hall in Whiteinch in the west of Glasgow. Built in 1894, this rather beautiful building has been out of use for an extended period of time, and it is in a pretty poor state. Recent attempts to find a new use for it seem to have failed and its future remains uncertain.

The remaining facade of the former Whiteinch Public Baths in the west of Glasgow. Designed by the Office of Public Works in an Edwardian Baroque style, it opened in 1926. The Whiteinch Public Baths housed two swimming pools, separate men's and women's baths, and a Turkish bath. It closed in the 1990s, and much of it was demolished in 2008 to make way for flats. However, this central pavilion was retained.

A section of old railway track on Methil Street in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. This appears to be one of many spurs of the old Lanarkshire and Dumbarton Railway line which ran parallel to South Street (and now forms the basis of a cycle path between Glasgow and Loch Lomond). It most likely serviced the many industrial companies which once lined the Clyde in this part of Glasgow.

Jordanvale House on Dumbarton Road in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. One of the oldest buildings in the local area, it dates back to at least the 1830s. It's now used as the presbytery of the neighbouring Saint Paul's Church. The only other surviving building of a similar age in Whiteinch is the nearby Inchbank House.

I've always been rather intrigued by these buildings in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow which seem to have been made from World War Two Nissen huts. I've no idea if they're really that old, though.

The former Glasgow Protestant Institute for Orphaned and Destitute Girls on Westland Drive in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. The institute was founded in 1825, but it wasn't until 1891 that this purpose-built home was constructed for it. It was designed by the rather wonderfully named Stewart Henbest Capper in a 17th Century Scottish style.

In the 1890s, the British Hydraulic Foundry produced the iron segments used to line the Glasgow Subway tunnels, the tunnels approaching Waverley Station in Edinburgh and the original Blackwell Tunnel in London, then the largest tunnel constructed using the 'shield and segment' method still used to create tunnels to this day.
