Just kidding, this is my Goblin Hat!! Out of all my hats, this one I think looks most like it's the home of some fantastical woollen hermit crab that's going to scuttle away at any moment.

First hat post!

Why am I making hats? Well, when I was about 13 or so I acquired a really nice felt wizard hat from a market stall. I never saw a stall selling hats like that again, so naturally I worried about what if my hat got damaged or lost!

So I decided to start making my own. This 2019 first attempt at a hat was knitted then felted, and it came out very nicely! I wasn't expecting the wiggly brim, but it's very fun!

Two hat posts in one day! I just realised I had a good Before/After demonstration of how my hats shrink and reshape themselves after they are pulled/felted.

I call this hat my Radagast hat! Technically I guess it's Lord of the Rings fanart, though I didn't decide it was Radagast's hat until it turned out so fluffy after felting. I mostly knitted it during Worldcon in Chicago this year, lots of writing wisdom was knitted into this hat.

I'm referring to this as my "Wizards of Pride" set. They're all prototypes, and each one has taught me how to knit a better wizard hat!

[EDIT 06/2024] After over a year and a half, I finally added a bunch of hats, and it wasn't gradual, it was one a day for several weeks. I still have more hats to add, but I ran out of steam for posting them for a bit, oops.
