URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Please stand with public media right now by urging Congress to vote against the Trump administration's devastating "rescission package." Please call or email your representatives immediately to urge them to vote against the proposal.

As a European, I really cannot do much about it, but I listen to programs and would hate to see them go. Love and support

The next ten days are the culmination of a huge project at my day job, as WNYC switches to a new audio playout and automation system for the first time since 2008. I am part of the team of engineers that has been installing, testing and customizing the new system and training new users. I have been working on it for about a year and a half, and today we put the thing on the air for the first time. By the middle of next week we'll be using the new system 24/7. A big f'n deal!

WNYC's New Sounds is on the chopping block. Please consider supporting this incredible show.

If you're not familiar with the program, I highly recommend checking it out. The depth and breadth of John Schaefer's musical knowledge is unparalleled and I've learned about so much new, old, unusual, etc. music by listening to it.

It was another rough day in the radio business. My job is safe, but there are 21 colleagues of mine who can't say the same.

Benmont Tench on WNYC's All of It with guest host David Furst. A lovely live set and interview!

75 years ago yesterday, WNYC aired the Miles Davis Sextet performing live at the original Birdland in New York City. The band included J.J. Johnson, Stan Getz, Tad Dameron, Gene Ramey, and Art Blakey! Five songs from the set have survived - listen to it here: wnyc.org/story/miles-davis/

I called in to Ask Governor Murphy about congestion pricing on WNYC last night. I shared that I save 10-20 minutes on every ride with the NJTransit bus into NYC, and asked him why he is opposed to it. I asked if he can find a way to keep the faster commute and reduced pollution.

He said that he is not completely against congestion pricing but that he wants a fair deal. I'm not satisfied yet, but am grateful to have the opportunity to ask Governor Murphy a question.

Some good news from my professional life: according to the latest Arbitron ratings, WNYC is the most listened to public radio station in the country, and is number 5 of ALL news/talk stations in the US including commercial stations.

I am so very glad I never donated to @NPR and now I will never donate to NPR. So much schadenfreude listening to #WNYC's fall pledge drive and their talking heads saying, "Oh no, we're not hitting our goals!"

"Good." was all that went through my mind. Play some Lake Woebegone slashfic about ketchup and wry, snarky """science"""" on #Radiolab.
