Before you go bat shit crazy on this statement. Let me explain by an example.
#Swiss #pharma apparently agreed to invest multiple billion dollars in the US over 5 years. This is undoubtedly going to bring back a few thousand jobs and some money. This was just announced the Whitehouse.
So a sample of 1 or 2 right?
No, let me continue... And for this you need to assume that the USA is now a banana republic. Some big companies and big powers are going to make extremely insanely good deals that the US government is not going to be able to undo. You can bet that those 10'000 jobs create by the pharma will come at a cost of a massive reduction or even exemption of taxes in the US.
What does this mean in this global economy for the average #American?
The drugs produced on US soil are going to increase in availability, but are also going to increase in cost. These industries have an impact on local life, they have needs such as energy, primary resources, transportation, landscape space, etc.
And here comes the kicker, this is not the first time that countries try this. They lower taxes like mad mans to attract businesses while have strong needs like any industry that produces something.
So who is going to pay the taxes? Well, companies are exempted or have extremely low rates, so who else pays taxes? YOU the average #worker. Your #taxes are going to go up.
So let's see if we can compute this.
We lower taxes for a big corp, that makes billions of income per year.

Funny how numbers work. Hey those people are going to pay taxes right, awesome. Let's put a high tax rate of 30%, that's 300'000'000 (300M) yearly not bad right?
Not so fast, what haven't we earned in taxes is just as important.
Let's assume they only made 10B (lol) and we will tax them a very low 4% rate(, because we are afraid they will go away otherwise, so 400'000'000.
We just lost 100M yearly in taxes.
Now that's a dream case.
The reality is much worse. The state exchanged 10k jobs for a loss of multi billions yearly in taxes.
