These are figopuses.

#worldOctopusDay

A tabletop scene features six small, purple, octopus-like plush toys arranged on a wood-grain surface. Each toy has a rounded, teardrop-shaped head made of a dark purple felt and eight short, green tentacles extending from its base. The toys are positioned in a slightly scattered arrangement, with some overlapping. The background is a dark wood surface with a visible grain.

These two live on my office bookshelf. The one on the left is the mascot of a software project I did a few years back named “Greenlight”. The one on the right is a tomatopus.

The image shows two small, plush octopus toys sitting inside a small, reddish-brown rectangular box. The box is placed on a bookshelf amongst a variety of books. The octopus on the left is a light gray color with green and darker gray markings. The octopus on the right is bright red with a small cluster of green leaves. Behind the box and plush toys are books with visible text on their spines: Appel's "Compiling with Continuations", Field and Harrison's "Functional Programming", Machol's "Elementary Systems Mathematics", and others.

Here's a photo I took of a fresh batch last week.

#worldOctopusDay

They're all over the house.

A row of small, plush, octopus-shaped toys sits on a wooden table. There are eight octopuses in total, arranged horizontally. Three are orange with pale green leaves sprouting from their heads, two are red, and three are light purple. Each octopus has eight legs and two small black eyes.

Happy #worldOctopusDay everyone! (It's the 8th of October.)

Since 2010 or so Lorrie has been making these little felt octopuses. She's made about 3,000 of them and despite having sold and given away many there are still quite a few in our house, lurking about. Here's the most recent batch, fresh from the Felting Spa.

I think the three orange ones in the middle row are persimmonpuses.

The image shows a collection of small, handmade octopus-shaped figures arranged on a wooden desk. There are eight octopuses visible, crafted from different colored felt. The octopuses all have small black beads for eyes and a similar body shape with eight short legs. The colors present include various shades of orange, tan, gray, and white. Two have whiskers and cat ears. Three in the middle are orange and oblate, with green leaves on their heads. In the background, there is a portion of a computer keyboard and some spools of thread.
