I didn't want my new X5105 to get hurt so I made a case for it.
My modest #hamradio project from this rainy weekend: A headset interface and PTT pedal For #Xiegu G90.
The most complicated thing with the HyperX Cloud III headset was that the microphone bias voltage delivered by the Xiegu G90. It was too low. It draws 9V with a 47K Ohm resistor.
I reworked the BIAS in the interface with 24.2K Ohm resistors to obtain a BAIS voltage of 2.6 V. I added a 100 nF capacitor to filter the DC BIAS component.
It seems to work. We'll see in the field.

the #xiegu #x6100 is an incredible looking piece of gear. it's similar to the #qrp setups and transceivers like the #g90, but can be more easily modified for #11m/cb in addition to HF use. it's got an integrated battery pack, and is compact enough i could mount it in my kitchen and connect from anywhere via wifi/ip. it looks great for backpack/go bag/out the door.
if anyone has used one on #11m or anything ubiquitous like that please tell me about it.
@mallory my first - and to date only - HF gear is a #Xiegu x5105 and I am VERY happy with it.
As a new #ham you want to get on the air NOW. At least that was what I wanted to do. Learning to solder beforehand is nothing I’d like to do in that situation.
It has a great #ATU built-in and also a built in keyer for #CW as far as I remember.
Was looking for a cover to protect my new qrp radio but could find anything on the known platforms. So I designed a Front and Back cover the #Xiegu G106. Put the files on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6740657
Temporary 😆 end of my quest for a modern #QRP rig.
Got a used Xiegu X6100, just received it this evening (it"s 21:00 here).
Second hand, but only 2 months old, with lateral metal handles and a nifty table support.
The price was less that what many seller ask for a 2 years old unit, and the seller (a Citizen Band DXer) was very cool.
The rig seems nice, solid, except for the "feeling" of the main dial knob, a bit "light", lake some resistance.
I'm still not sure if I like it, but at least I give it a try: Lately I'm experimenting with #ft8 on #10m & #15m in #portable operations. I want to get a feeling for #digimodes.
It's surprisingly challenging doing this when being /p. And I have one big issue, maybe you can help me?
Why is it that in MOST of my QSOs on FT8 the OMs write at least 5 times their report and don't get my final „RR 73“ in the meantime? Even when getting a good report? Any ideas? I'm doing 15W with a #Xiegu G90.
There is a mailing list for the #Xiegu #X6200 a new radio via #radioddity that builds on the previous generation #X6100

So far early reports have uncovered lots of small issues, many of which sound to my ear like they could be fixed in firmware, but collectively sounding pretty awkward.
It looks like @greppy has been having some #pota fun with it per https://technomage.net/2024/06/the-x6200-initial-thoughts/
Xiegu G90 with FLRig – Getting U-D mode on startup
An unexpected follow up to my last post.
One of the problems with newer versions of FLRig is that it seemingly causes my G90 to revert to the last non-data mode that FLRig was in. For me this is usually USB (Upper Sideband). This is because when I run FLRig with WSJT-X, I need to be in USB-Data mode on the G90, but FLRig doesn’t have a dedicated mode for […]

After one month with my amateur radio license, the #xiegu #G90 and the #draussenfunker telescope vertical antenna a short update: I have discovered the best, most fun and most interesting hobby for me ever! The #G90 is running great and I'm super happy with the operation and everything else! I am also totally enthusiastic about the #draussenfunker vertical antenna! It's quick and easy to make and set up. I'm looking forward to what's still to come and to all the upcoming contacts!
My main HF rig right now is an X6100, so naturally the X6200 interests me. Some intriguing things, but...
It has an FT8 decoder. Seems neat, but like... How's it gonna send it? 🤔
Low budget #hamradio porn. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese electronics with the exception of Siglent, which makes some fantastic budget test gear. I have added #Xiegu to that list. Their G90 transceiver is built really well and nothing about it feels cheap. The only problem is the power cable opens sometimes as it heats up. I can fix that. :)
I made my own version of K3NG's Arduino CW keyer. Using an Arduino Nano. All components were sourced from AliExpress. The PCB was designed in KiCad. It will be used to key the Xiegu X6100 during next Region 1 CW fieldday.

Will be documented in detail on https://www.golb.be/nano-keyer/
Gerber files and links to the components will be shared.
