One of the reasons I’m going is that I simply miss my people. This is only my second event after #XOXOFest this summer since the covid era started and this week, more than any other, I need to re-find my community.

My favorite #XOXOFest moment was when I casually noticed someone using the Studio Neat Mark 2, and just casually asked "is that the Mark 2" and she was like "Oh yeah it totally is" and we had a pen nerd moment as I pulled out my damaged Mark 1.
There were a lot of great stickers at #xoxofest but this was my favorite and I’d love to share their soundcloud

But I would like feedback on my more than slight crazy idea for a conference format (it isn't specific to one field or topic) and it is influenced in part by #xoxofest which I attended earlier this year.

I'm two minutes into Dan Olson's XOXO talk and I've never felt more seen
the idea of putting off watching something because I know it's going to ensnare me in a mind-spiral of "why am I not doing this I could do this I'm going to spend a month seething and proving it to myself" I mean my goodness
the hazard zone?! the gulch?! me too! I know there's nothing new under the sun, but it's so reassuring to know I'm not alone
The talks from the final XOXO festival are... glorious. The web (still) has loads of wonderful people doing wonderful work. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

i’ve been waiting for AGES to share this #xoxofest talk with people who weren’t there. i can’t tell you what it’s about without spoiling it. just watch it (but maybe skip the first minute or two, they follow a brief recap that isn’t included)
This talk by Molly White hits so hard, specifically when you remember how the web changed your life in the 1990s.
Web in the 90s was the first time I had the opportunity to access the same level of information as someone in Europe or the US, which, in hindsight, was groundbreaking.
I never thought a story about something so random as a suburban McDonald’s location decor could ever go so deep.
A great reminder to value the talent and amazing work that surrounds us, instead of looking past it.
