This year the craft group that I’m a member of is working on a year long project: a slow stitch fabric book.I found this gorgeous old secondhand hardback book at the op shop that I thought would be perfect for the project.

Last year we made our title page to start us off - the general theme of the book being “A Journey Through Stitching”.
Each month, the ladies who are running the project give the group a prompt to create a page around. So far the prompts have been:
- Flowers/floral
- Lace
- Suffolk puffs/yoyo’s

Our latest prompt is Mushrooms.

As I’m predominantly a Cross stitcher I’ll be trying to incorporate a small piece of cross stitch on each page.

Finished this piece for my friend’s mum. She loved it 🥰

This was also my first time finishing a piece using a wooden hoop to display my creation in.

For backing I used cream coloured felt which I blanket stitched on (forgot to take a pic of this).

Throwback to 2017 when I stitched this piece and gave it to mum for Mother’s Day.
Yes, I gave it to her like this and she had to then turn it into a cushion herself because I didn’t know how to, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Last year I started taking little mini cross stitch projects with me to work to chip away at on my lunch breaks.
One such project was this little mushy frog. Towards the end of the year I found out that one of my coworkers is slightly obsessed with frogs, so I gave the piece to her for Christmas. (He’s a little off centre because of the small piece of Aida I was working with)
It was originally on a leather cord which allowed her to wear it as a necklace. But she’s a clever cookie and had an even better idea to add a clasp on it to use it as a keyring/bag accessory.

Started a new WIP yesterday. My best friend’s mum had an operation this week and is recovering in hospital. So I thought I’d stitch a little something for her (& hopefully finish it by the time she comes home). I could get her flowers but they die - Cross stitch stitch lives forever!

I finally had a chance to catch up with my best friend a couple of days ago to give her this framed piece as a combined birthday/Christmas gift.
She’s into all things tarot, queer and aliens so when I found this pattern on Etsy I knew it was perfect. (She also recently celebrated an anniversary with her partner, so I thought ‘The Lovers’ was an appropriate card to stitch)
