I've installed Xubuntu 24.04 LTS on it, and the performance boost is fantastic. The XFCE desktop environment that Xubuntu uses is incredibly lightweight and responsive, which is exactly what older hardware like the X230 benefits from.
Being an LTS (Long-Term Support) release means you get 5 years of updates and stability, making it a perfect choice for daily use on this durable machine.

I have a laptop that can also run OS requiring modern hardware, such as Windows11 or Ubuntu. I but I prioritize low resource usage, so I’ve always installed #Xubuntu first and then #Lubuntu. But I discovered that #AntiX is even lighter, might be the better choice, I value raw efficiency and minimalism, and since it’s based on #Debian like Ubuntu, I can use the same programs. However Lubuntu offers a more "out-of-the-box" experience. So which is the better choice between Lubuntu and AntiX? #linux

Setting up this TFF (Tiny Form Factor) Lenovo M72 to be our new monitor testing workstation. I upgraded the RAM from 8 to 16GB and traded the HDD for an SSD. It's getting #xubuntu 24.04.2 and will be running the script I wrote for processing monitors: HTTPS://GitHub.com/chaslinux/findmonitor . We have a bunch of adapters for Display Port to other. Not using the dsub/VGA port as it seems to remember the previous monitor.
