"Voor het onderzoek volgden wetenschappers meer dan 12.000 volwassenen in Brazilië, gemiddeld 52 jaar oud. De deelnemers hielden bij wat zij aten en dronken en werden ruim acht jaar gevolgd.

"De resultaten zijn opvallend. De groep die dagelijks gemiddeld 191 milligram zoetstoffen consumeerde, liet een 62% snellere daling in geheugen- en denkvaardigheden zien dan de groep die slechts 20 milligram per dag binnenkreeg. Dit verschil komt neer op een effect dat vergelijkbaar is met 1,6 jaar extra veroudering van de hersenen."

"Het effect bleek het sterkst bij mensen jonger dan 60 jaar en bij deelnemers met diabetes. Dat is opmerkelijk, omdat juist vaak wordt aangenomen dat vooral ouderen kwetsbaar zijn voor cognitieve problemen. De onderzoekers benadrukken dat de studie alleen een verband laat zien en geen oorzaak bewijst."

Just mix som flour with water, leave it for 10 minutes then rinse it under a running water for a few minuter. That's pure gluten. That's how you would make #seitan, the vegan replacement for meat. It's tasteless. It feels exactly like a bubble gum.

You can work in some powdered #xylitol for sweetness and dental benefits and give it to your #child. It will strengthen their jaws and protect them from cavities.

There were studdies that a chewing gum releases microplastics, since most of them are synthetic.

Für den Menschen ist #Xylitol unbedenklich. Die Insulinausschüttung und damit der Blutzucker-senkende Effekt ist beim Hund jedoch so stark, dass ein lebensbedrohlicher Zustand entstehen kann. Die entstehende Unterzuckerung (Hypoglykämie) führt im Gehirn zu einem Ungleichgewicht der Nervenaktivität und dadurch schließlich zu Gangstörungen, Bewußtseins-Einschränkungern, Zittern und auch epileptischen Anfällen.

Geringe Mengen sind bereits ausreichend um eine Vergiftung hervorzurufen. 0,1 g pro kg Körpermasse ist für Hunde bereits giftig. 100 Stück zuckerfreie Kaugummi reichen aus, um eine Vergiftung hervorzurufen. Die Wirkung setzt ca. 30 min. nach Aufnahme ein. ***

In initial untargeted metabolomics studies (discovery cohort) and subsequent stable isotope dilution liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) studies (validation cohort), fasting levels of xylitol are associated with incident major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Using human whole blood, platelet-rich plasma, and washed platelets, xylitol enhances multiple indices of platelet reactivity in vitro. Xylitol also was shown to enhance thrombosis formation in a murine arterial injury model in vivo. In human intervention studies, when subjects ingested a typical dietary amount of xylitol in an artificially sweetened food, multiple functional measures of platelet responsiveness were significantly increased. Xylitol is both clinically associated with cardiovascular event risks and mechanistically linked to enhanced platelet responsiveness and thrombosis potential in vivo.
