Something tells me I may need to find a new Mastodon instance if criticising the Israeli Government is going to see toots get deleted.
Yes, it's misspelled as 81732bit....
Its Robb from 8/16/32bit!

Well.
I've had a toot deleted by the admins of my instance because I pointed out that criticism of the Israeli Government is not in itself anti-Semitic.
Apparently, saying this (and condemning Hamas in the same toot) is offensive.
@SecurityWriter it's because Musk has a desperate need to be "first". So Space X is clearly cutting corners and rushing things. They would be far better off (as would Tesla and "X") If Musk just wasn't involved as anything more than an investor. Or at all.
The sheer contempt this unnamed Labour MP is showing for his constituents here is staggering. They are elected to represent their constituents, not their own personal views (something they are only to keen to criticise the Tories of doing)
I had forgotten what the internet used to be like 20 or more years ago.
But it's just occurred to me that a couple of hours ago I asked a bunch of random strangers a fairly random question (about repairing a broken watch) and quickly got back multiple helpful and informative replies.
This is what the net used to be like, back in the days of usenet and email lists and the early web forums. And most people have probably never experienced it at all, their impression of social media being very different from those of us here on the Fediverse.
PS: It's probably very unfair to call you "random strangers". Even in just the 18 months I've been here I've found and chatted with people I'm happy to call friends, even though I've never met them face-to-face.
@iSabreman yep. You've hit the nail on the head. Yesterday showed how many MPs were prepared to ignore their constituents and vote in a way that kept their shadow ministerial positions intact.
I feel very much politically adrift these days.
I'm a socialist. And I see no party that truly represents me any longer. The Labour shipnsailed a long time ago, and the other parties on the left are either so small as to be ineffectual even at a local level, or riddled with their own issues (The Greens, for example). The shift to the Right has gone too far.
If you think that a ceasefire shouldn't happen in Gaza because it will "help Hamas", then that just shows you think that killing what in reality is a few thousand terrorists (at best) is worth more than the ongoing suffering of over 2 million innocent people.
"Humanitarian pauses" will just drag this conflict out over a longer period. Which means more deaths. Israel is already responsible for almost 10x as many deaths as Hamas caused. That's gone beyond retaliation. Way, way beyond it.
@yesterzine yup.
My MP seems genuinely incapable of doing anything other than what Sir Kier tells him to.
His latest reply to me implies that not calling for a ceasefire in some way is not condoning the violence being perpetrated in Gaza. He seems to believe that a ceasefire will not help...
Wow. My MP is a dick.
He doesn't understand how refusing to call for a ceasefire can be seen as condoning the violence in Gaza...
I really hate "Blue Labour". If you abhor left leaning politics that much, join the fucking Tories.
My MP is pure Blue Labour. Would rather suck up to the boss than make a principled stand for peace.
I'm sure the "reason" given by my MPmis being repeated by others across the UK. They don't want to jepordise their careers by standing for something meaningful, so they trot out a poor excuse.
It's disgusting.
If Sunak can force through an "emergency law" to ignore the ECHR on matters of relocating immigrants, what other pesky human rights will he force "emergency laws" through on?
Well, I know where my MP stands.
Emailed him regarding the amendments calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. He won't vote for them as they are "purely symbolic" and he "speaks out for peace".
Oh, he's a shadow minister. Guess his commitment to a future Labour Government ministerial role is stronger than his.commitment to peace.
It's Andrew Gwynne, by the way.
When one of the parties most senior members openly advocates the Government placing itself above the law and doing as it pleases, this should set alarm bells ringing.
While those in Ministerial positions will distance themselves from those comments, he is only saying the quiet part out loud for what they really think.
Public transport isn't supposed to make money. It's not even supposed to break even. It's supposed to lose money and to be financed and extended from general taxes because it gives back way more than mere money.
And all the politicians know this because they keep building and maintaining streets for free
Call me the mad novelty candidate but I had a funny feeling that forcibly sending asylum seekers to an anti-democratic authoritarian regime run by a man linked to numerous political murders might, just might, be unlawful.
The Tory Government didn't reduce inflation, despite what they will say over the coming days. The Bank Of England, and the markets reduced it.
And the Rwanda plan was declared unlawful. As anyone with even a vague understanding of international and UK law knew from the start.
Liars and racists. That's the Government.
Interesting move by Sunak to actually remove Braverman. He's now.made her a martyr for the hard right of the Conservative party, and created a potential challenger for the party leadership.
What's that saying about keeping your friends close, but enemies closer?
What year did you get on the internet? Please pass around for good n. (Perhaps I could have picked the intervals better.)
