Andreas (82mhz)

Electrical engineer, musician, out and about on two wheels (bike or Vespa), I read a lot of books (aiming for about one per week, mostly SciFi, biographies, non-fiction), coffee-addict.

I may write about tech, music, retro, books... Currently trying my hands at blogging.

Fed up with the corporate internet, which is what brought me here.

Why 82MHz? Well I was born in 1982, and I studied electrical and telecommunications engineering, so the MHz is a nod to this :)

For monitors, for me the sweet spot is 27''' with 1440p resolution. 1080p is a bit too cramped for work, while 4k I think is unnecessary because you have to scale everything up anyway otherwise it becomes too small to read, and then you might as well go with the lower resolution.

Thanks for reading Anita!
I found the article about accessibility pretty shocking to read; I had no idea the situation was so dire. I really thought that problem had been solved a long time ago, which shows how little clue I have about accessibility.

I agree, back when everything was just text it was probably a lot simpler to create software that could be used without being able to see, but that it isn't done more today is pretty sad.

Now I'm also thinking about the accessibility of my own website, which is probably not that great because I never considered it. I'll probably switch to BSSG soon like you did, and then look into this a bit deeper.

I don't know how popular this is in the BSD community, but there's also GhostBSD that is as far as I understand FreeBSD but preconfigured with a desktop interface and ready to go. Maybe that's something you could try on your computer.

Thanks! Yes there are walls that have bullet holes here; I thought about including one but I didn't want the post to grow too long. Maybe next time ;)

And Christmas season is nice here, there's the christmas market and there's always good food available everywhere :)

The website looks great! I'm testing BSSG right now as well, and it's great. There maybe a blog post about it soon πŸ˜‰

@felsqualle

I made a script that does everything for me, I just call it with the name of the file I want to create and then it wil be created from a template (called archetype in hugo) in the right folder. Here it is, maybe it's helpful to you:

#!/bin/bash

function show_usage
{
cat << EOT
./newPost.sh filename.md
Creates directory content/posts/mm_YYYY and adds file filename.md with hugo
EOT
exit $1
}

if [ $# = 0 ]; then
show_usage 1
fi

datestring=$(date +%m_%Y)
dir="content/posts/$datestring"

if [ ! -d $dir ]; then
mkdir -p $dir
echo "created directory $dir"
fi

dirandfilename="$dir/$1"

hugo new $dirandfilename

The template sits in the folder archetypes.
