I'm getting really sick of tech coverage stroking the ego of graphics card manufacturers when only two AAA games even "need" them

and the others are just cripplingly poorly optimized or using a windows or 3rd party module that's absolutely shitting itself constantly.

meanwhile overwhelming majority of indie games (and older AAA) run perfectly fine on ten year old hardware.

I still run 4 year old AAA games on a gtx1060 and it's actually almost a challenge to find games that *won't* run acceptably, especially on linux using proton.

@Decimal replace "ability" with "requirement" and you'd be unironically correct imo

I've never played a game with an unnecessarily high minimum skill requirement that didn't feel like absolutely terrible to play below that skill requirement

I swear some login systems have a protocol to randomly deny valid inputs just to fuck with intruders

Theory:
Valid users know they're valid users, assume they typed it wrong, and keep trying, eventually passing.

Intruders, not know whether or not the password is valid and concerned further attempts will get them caught and blocked may choose to immediately stop and gather more information.
