Last night, at a symphony concert, the orchestra stood up and played something before the concert really started. It took everybody a few beats, but then everybody jumped to their feet and started singing O Canada enthusiastically.

That was definitely political - I've never seen them play O Canada at the start of the show before. And the audience was deeply into it.

Americans, Canadians are piiiiiissssed about the "51st state" thing. You might think it's funny, but we're taking it seriously.

i genuinely think the next time i get a bot of some description on the line, or those prerecorded advertisements that pretend to be a person by having someone's voice on them in a realistic way, im going to scream, and not stop screaming until the phone's mic gives out, i no longer have the energy to sustain it, or someone picks up that actually exists in a realm that hasn't been replaced by bots or edited, scripted semi-presence.
i refuse to verbally cue every scrap of connection i get because some higher-up, read. ritcher motherfucker than me, decided language of the verbal veriety needed to happen in a particular way before i could be considered for the fucking prise.
yes im angry, no i won't take deep breaths to calm down unless someone decides of their own free will to either join me or sit with me as i do, yes that dissision is very deliberate, and yes i will gladly explain why i made it if someone asks first. what i won't be doing is offering information, read. To believe there's no society, only individuals, is to believe there is no such thing as an orchestra, only individual players and instruments.

If your performance helps the orchestral sound feel full, but would not carry a performance on its own, a conservative would not hesitate to cut you out.

You are responsible for hitting a single drum? To a conservative, you are useless. Yet, without you, the whole sound falls apart.

A conservative asks, why have multiple flute players when you could amplify the performance of a single flute player? This is the capitalistic view of "efficiency"

But anyone worth their salt knows a team of flutes playing in concert is completely different from a single flute amplified

We are more powerful together than we are as individuals. We can achieve so much more with much less effort when we empower one another, instead of taking the spotlight all for ourselves.
