@isaakubus @lacalaveraradio My suggestion for you to start a new "issue" at github with concrete information was NOT about requesting the same information another time. It was about starting investigation, development and testing of possible fixes TOGETHER.
Conversation in this chat is not suited for such work.

@isaakubus This is OK. I understand that helping developers to fix their apps is much harder than just switching to an app that works for you :-)

@isaakubus I just suggested a way to find a solution.

@isaakubus I would start with opening an issue here https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues and listing concrete cases where multiline text works in AndStatus and when it doesn't work.
For each case we need:
- device model,
- Android version
- Keyboard app name and it's version
- maybe something else...

@isaakubus Yes, incompatibility means that the "multiline text" feature doesn't work on some "incompatible" devices (or with some keyboard apps).
Now we even don't know what causes keyboard app at such devices to show "action" button instead of "line break / caret" button as on the screenshot.

@isaakubus So I understand that you installed different keyboard apps at your phone, and in all apps there was no way to make a linebreak.
If so this means that incompatibility is with your phone firmware and/or Android version. In order for me to fix the problem I need to be able to reproduce it.
But so far I don't have a device with this problem.

@z428 Frankly I personally read social networks rarely, and the #AndStatus app helps me keep a track of what's unread and look at that stuff and react at any place, even when there is no good connection.
But what I value even more is a feeling that I really "own my data" :-)
- I keep my conversations in the app for more than ten years already. I don't know why :-)

@petrescatraian Yes ... and in a way, too, there's .... more quantity than quality it seems. Playing through a load of different choices, it seems though they differ in some aspects, most of the general approaches of the clients used today are similar. Like, no real offline support (except for @AndStatus which unfortunately also has no "good" idea about Friendica specific stuff), no sorting or filtering or "good" notification. Somehow I still am waiting for an e-mail style Fediverse client which also allows for good client-side compensation of things such as reverse chronological order (which is more obvious than any other algorithm yet still hard to handle with a load of stuff in a timeline). Maybe #relatica or #fedilab (or even AndStatus) at some point will grow into this, but I am unsure how likely that is. And in the meantime .... I want to keep myself from that FOMO'ish patterns of repeatedly trying different tools just to notice they all have shortcomings of similar gravity and all of them have some sweet spots but some basic features are missing in all of them.🙂

In order to investigate such cases #AndStatus logs are needed: they will allow to tell, why the app still thinks that the Note (Activity) was not sent.
But probably a network problem occured during sending, and the app didn't get confirmation from a server about successful Note creation on a server.
I thought that this should be a Server's responsibility to deduplicate/resolve such cases, and e.g. seeing that AndStatus client sends the same Note...

@isaakubus You could also try some older version of #AndStatus
As you may see in the discussion that I linked to some years ago AndStatus had different implementation for line break option...

What's its model and Android version?
BTW I use Pixel 6 now - line break works.

What are they so I could try to reproduce the behavior?
