@SlimNudist As a German, it's totally unusual for me to even think about not having a naked sauna.
Just the thought of going to the sauna in swimming trunks or even sweaty sportswear fills me with disgust.

**I tried a traditional Austrian naked sauna for the first time and these are the strict rules you must follow**
There is a reason why it's compulsory to get your kit off in Austrian saunas
By Simon Fearn, 29 Jul 2024
I braved a traditional Austrian sauna with several strict rules - the main one being that you’re only allowed in if you’re stark naked.
Picture the scene. I’d been invited by Wizz Air on a press trip to the Schladming-Dachstein region of Austria and due to an early flight and several bad decisions on my part, I hadn’t had any proper kip for around 30 hours.
After a very beautiful but very rainy hike through the Silberkarklamm canyon, you can imagine it was music to my ears that the traditional mountain hotel we were staying at - the four-star Hotel Berghof in Ramsau am Dachstein - had five saunas downstairs.
However, sensing a culture clash on the horizon, our Austria tourist board contact - the fabulous Magdalena Penz - had a quick word with the reception desk and confirmed some chilling news: you were only allowed in the saunas if you took your kit off. All of it. And apparently some people can get very offended if you try and go in wearing swimming trunks or bikinis.
While the rest of our party reacted to this with mild horror, my recent soaking on the walk and ongoing sleep deprivation meant I really, really would appreciate sweating it out in some dry heat for 15 minutes, and I was prepared to go native to do it.
Why do you have to get naked in Austrian saunas?...

**German Sauna Culture: Your Guide to Enjoying Co-Ed Spas**
By TAY BELGERI, JUL.30.2024
Spas are like little oases designed to remove us from reality.
No abrasively loud construction sites. No weird-smelling trash bins. No noisy fights between neighbors. No too-cold AC units or drafty windows.
There might not even be clothes involved, depending on where you’re going.
If you’re already familiar with naturism around the globe, then you might know that spas are one of the most clothing-optional places on earth. From Europe to Asia, the spa is where you can find people relaxing in their birthday suits.
That’s doubly true in places like Scandinavia, Germany, and Switzerland, where people tend to see nudity as natural and spas as a critical component of wellness.
That means that saunas (and oftentimes steam rooms) in these countries don’t require swimsuits—even when they’re co-ed.
So what can you expect from a co-ed spa experience? Let’s zero in on what it’s like to relax at one of these locations in Germany, one of the most popular destinations for American tourists. Here’s what you need to know.
Co-ed spas: au natural is the norm
Let’s quickly review why clothing is optional at spas.
First and foremost, nudity is regarded as normal. The human body isn’t a spectacle, nor is it seen as inappropriate. Viewed in this way, there’s no reason to separate spa-goers based on gender—because the body is the body, no matter its form...

**Topless sunbathing remains a daring act even for European women**
By Thelma Bacon, July 31, 2024
Depending upon where you are in Europe, the practice of sunbathing topless is more or less acceptable. Brits, for example, have a record of struggling to ditch the bikini top by comparison to their more brazen European neighbours.
Yet even on what the English describe as “The Continent”, exposing one’s breasts is fraught with peril. As a French sociologist researching naturism, I am fascinated by the thin line that turns bare breasts into a political statement, such as with FEMEN activists, or simple bathing practice to avoid pesky tan lines.
Bare breasts tolerated at the beach
The beach is one of the few places where it’s not inappropriate to lie partially unclothed next to strangers. That space-time is set out by the sand, turned strict, impenetrable boundary beyond which certain practices, such as exposing the body in a swimming costume, or even more so when it comes to bare breasts, are unacceptable.
On the beach, it is therefore possible to be naked without offending public decency. So how can women go topless on the beach without being eroticized by all the men around them? Because “the exposure of nudity”, according to the sociologist Jean-Claude Kaufmann, “makes the nude less apparent”. When reunited, specific conditions can normalise, if not make breasts invisible. One of the most common arguments women will resort to to justify topless sunbathing is that “We’re all made the same”. Kaufmann concludes that “normalisation stems from breasts’ impersonality in general. The archaic visual attraction would then only be due to the scarcity of the good which, now abundant, is no longer attractive”...

**Naturist Paradises’: A Nudist Exhibit In France Where Visitors Can Go Naked**
By Cecilia Rodriguez, Jul 29, 2024
The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, Mucem, in the southern French city of Marseille is celebrating its 10th anniversary with, among others, the exhibition ‘Naturist Paradises’, dedicated to the ‘living naked’ lifestyle.
A peculiarity of the show is that on specific Tuesdays ,the exhibit can be visited...in the nude.
The nudist visits have been organized with different naturist organizations.
‘Naturist Paradises’, which runs until December 9, traces the history of nudist communities over the last 100 years with an emphasis on France, the world’s leading tourist destination for nudist enthusiasts.
According to Franceinfo, this exhibit is a first for France and it includes more than 600 photos, films, magazines, paintings, sculptures and everyday objects that tell the history of nudism from the first pioneering communities in the 1920s to today...

**El Fonoll, the medieval village in Spain where clothes are banned**
Nestled in the Catalan mountains, this small naturist community was created in 1998 by an entrepreneurial couple on the ruins of a deserted town. Despite the strict rules, it attracts people from all over the world. ‘I will die in El Fonoll, naked but happy,’ says owner Emili Vives
By JESÚS DELGADO BARROSO, JUL 27, 2024
There are many options to enjoy the summer. There are those who dislike to innovate and instead opt for an all-inclusive vacation at some beachfront resort. And then there are those who seek lesser-known and more alternative havens of peace. El Fonoll, a restored medieval village in the province of Tarragona, in Spain’s northeastern region of Catalonia, falls squarely within the latter category. Whether as a family, as a couple or alone, wearing clothes is prohibited here. The village, founded in the 14th century, has been converted into a community for those who want to experience harmony with the natural environment. There are campsites, hotels, rural homes, restaurants and many activities on hand, but there are also strict rules: taking photos is prohibited (unless you have consent); complete nudity is required (weather permitting), and respect must be shown for all ideologies. The list of rules goes on, on posters that are plastered everywhere. El Fonoll is a place where you cannot pretend to be what you are not...

**British Naturism: I tried being a naturist for the day**
By Charlotte Albutt, 27th July, 2024
WE can all hold our hands up and say we have ventured through the comfort of our own homes stark-naked at least once.
But I wonder how many hands would remain up if it was in public, surrounded by a bunch of strangers?
Naturism is a lifestyle I never thought I would try.
Yet, there I was, taking part in the National British Naturism Naked Walk and Skinny Dip event on Sunday to raise important funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Naturism is a form of non-sexual social nudity which is practised by nearly nine million people across the UK - though it is a lifestyle that is not often accepted in many places.
When I told my friends and family about the event, they told me I was crazy.
I must admit. I felt I was too.
Well, imagine how you may feel if that was reversed and you were the naked one (as well) in a room full of strangers.
I was terrified as I pulled up to WatersEdge in Bishampton, which was where the event took place...

**Brewers’ oops over bare beer project**
By Catherine Hubbard, Juli 25, 2024
A California brewery has apologised for ripping off the signage of a Nelson nudist club on its cans without asking first.
Members of the Nelson Naturist Park, formerly known as the Nelson Sun Club, came across the brew while surfing the net, and emailed screenshots to the Nelson Mail.
The West Coast IPA beer, named after the Nelson Sun Club, bears an image of the club’s signage, an art work of two men playing tennis in their birthday suits and sneakers, and three bearded men, whose bare bodies were pixellated.
“Shame they didn’t request usage of our signage and artwork,” the club posted on Facebook.
After the brewery was contacted by the Nelson Mail, it emailed an apology to the naturists.
“I would like to start off by saying that we are very sorry for not contacting you about using the Nelson Sun Club name for a beer,” wrote Alvarado Street Brewery director of marketing Brock Bill.
Brewers from Alvarado Street were in Nelson in March to select hops from Freestyle Hops, a farm based in the Sunrise Valley, also home to the Nelson Sun Club.
“[We] fell in love with the idea of your establishment and were very much inspired by the name, the artwork, and idea of the Nelson Sun Club itself.
“The name felt almost perfect for a beer as it gives a fun-loving naturist attitude and sense of place, but by no means should that be an excuse.”...

**Skinny dipping event raises hundreds for charity***
A secret charity skinny-dip in Jersey has raised hundreds of pounds for charity, organisers say, despite authorities withdrawing permission for the event.
Event organiser Ross Mantle said he and some friends held the event in a "secret location" after raising funds in aid of Jersey Hospice Care.
He said approval was given and sponsorship money was pledged before permission was withdrawn.
St John Constable Andy Jehan said he was unable to support the event at the time as he did not want to breach any law.
'No police powers to prohibit'
Mr Mantle said nearly ÂŁ800 was raised for the charity and a protest skinny-dip was held.
The organiser said he decided to go ahead with the swim in secret as he did not want to "disappoint" anybody who donated.
The naturist swim was planned for 13 July at Bonne Nuit, having had permission from the police, the Bailiff and St John Constable Andy Jehan.
In an email to Mr Mantle, Jersey Police cited article 2 of the Policing of Beaches (Jersey) Regulations 1949 which said "no person shall on any beach behave or be clothed in any manner reasonably likely to offend public decency".
The force also cited article 35 of the Sexual Offences (Jersey) Law 2018.
Police did tell Mr Mantle it was not for the States Police to permit or prohibit the event.
But Mr Jehan previously said he had to cancel the event having discovered it could breach legislation.
He added that he hoped the event would go ahead in Jersey in the future.
"I tried to find a solution with the organiser at Bonne Nuit.
"Unfortunately, what we didn't want to do was breach any law and, therefore, that's why I couldn't support it at the time," he said...

**Dance, spend time in nature, and get naked! 17 body confidence tips from people who have it**
By Isabelle Aron, Fri 19 Jul 2024
A naturist, life drawing model and others on the secret to feeling at home in your skin

The naturist
My advice would be to spend time naked alone at home, which will help you start to feel comfortable in your own skin. When you feel ready, consider joining like-minded people in a safe environment to do naked activities you enjoy. You could go to a naturist beach or naked sauna, or go skinny dipping. You’ll soon realise there is no such thing as the perfect body – everyone has lumps and bumps. Being with other naked people makes you realise that it really doesn’t matter.
Anne Nisbet
The fashion model
So many of us are scared to try something because we think: that’s not me. But how do you know unless you try? If you want to dye your hair a crazy colour or wear a dress that you might never normally wear, go for it. The other day, I wore this amazing dress made of hard silver yarn. It looked almost like armour. When I put it on, I felt like Joan of Arc. It turned me into a warrior and gave me the confidence I needed. The fashion industry profits from self-doubt. But there are people in it who care about inclusivity. I think it’s beautiful when a designer can make clothes that look good not just on a small body, but on bigger bodies, too.

Alan Ellison says skinny dipping has been great for his health and hopes to encourage more people to take the plunge.
By Rosemary Lowne, July 21, 2024
Mention the words skinny dipping and it might prompt an eyebrow raise here, an embarrassed flushed cheek there or some nervous laughter.
But for Alan Ellison, a retired high school teacher from Forres, skinny dipping is no joke or strange taboo, it’s a healthy way of life that he hopes more people will dive into.
“I really enjoy the feeling of being at one with nature,” says Alan, 64, a married father of two.
“Obviously there’s a sense of freedom that comes with being naked.
“In addition to the cool water, I enjoy the feeling of sun, wind, rain, snow on my skin.
“The whole experience is like pressing a reset button and any problems evaporate,
at least for a brief period.
“In addition to being a positive mental experience, I find there are advantages in physical wellbeing too as I rarely suffer from colds and generally bugs pass me by.”
Challenging preconceptions
In a society where people love to judge, Alan hopes that by bravely baring all, it will challenge people’s thinking on the subject.
“It’s such a great, positive experience so I want to spread the joy and get more people involved,” says Alan...
