@tanaki Unfortunately there's 2 sides to telegram: There's the furries, and then there's the alt-right/cryptobros, and unfortunately it's hard to market to furries well, so you market to the other side...

Affirmation for the day.
Day ♾️ of asking for m/m spicy furry VN authors to write a story where neither the main character nor the love interest are severely autistic.
Started another one where I really like the character development, but it keeps harping on the fact that he was nonverbal until a few years ago, and isn't really in tune with people's emotions and just relies on facts and logic, and the townspeople are generally put off by him because of this...
Don't get me wrong, I like the representation, but it feels like it's every single VN?
And then a lot of them have a pseudo-redemption-arc?! Where the interactions between the two characters suddenly make them well-liked and in-tune with people's emotions? It feels weird.
I get that in this fandom, we're basically all a little neurodivergent, and compound that with programmers needing to logic things in weird ways, and suddenly you're left with a small subset of people who are going to write these stories. It just feels a little dull with the same key points over and over.
@Luissen I only count the ones I'm currently wielding. The count of ones I have stored on my person is obviously a secret~
Thanks, Duolingo, this is definitely a phrase I'll need to say a lot.
I swear my work keys are based on the USB standard sometimes.
Try a key: doesn't work.
Pull it out, look at key ring again to find correct key.
Realize the key I just tried should be the right one.
Try the same key again: unlocks effortlessly.
The locks are well-maintained! It's not like they're binding or anything!
Also the lovely quirks of trying to get a server that is accessible inside your network AND outside!
Outside wasn't too difficult after I solved a lot of the little issues (the container has access to CHOWN +X any of its files it wants... it just forgets to do that when it downloads a codec, and then can't run the codec...), just forwarding the port through the router.
But THEN I could ONLY access the server remotely, and when I was at home, the server wasn't visible.
Turns out that was a couple quirks working together: for security, truenas doesn't let containers bind to the host network as a discoverable device, and second: The router pushed a new IP to the server (When I gave it a static IP I gave it a nice memorable one), and the OS took it just fine... but the container wouldn't take it no matter how much I restarted the container. So I had to restart the whole server!
The app was going "hey plex, where are you?" and plex would respond "103" when it was at 100 now... leading to no connection.
Moving my plex library to a dedicated server has shown me how many TV shows there are with the name "Monster"...
Literally there's a warning at the top of the wikipedia article saying "Not to be confused with..."
Just spent 2 days trying to figure out how to flash an SD card for a device that bricked itself. It usually comes with the OS pre-flashed, but the cheap models don't include the SD card, so I know manual flashing is possible.
Turns out their github organization is a mess, and V1 things are the actual OS while V2 things are the interface. So silly me for trying to flash a V2 file when the solution was scrolling down on their releases page until I see a V1 version, and THAT'S what I should flash! :blobfoxconfused:
Also this isn't documented anywhere. I found out by someone ELSE opening an issue and the creator replying about there being 2 different release types and make sure you flash the OS vs the program. It's on you to find out they mean V1.x.x vs V2.x.x
Just had to go buy ~ancient technology~ to get an old game controller working.
AA batteries.
Literally had a pack of 4 that lasted me YEARS, but finally used the last of them (converted to D batteries because I wasn't gonna buy new batteries when I had perfectly good rechargeables)
I notice a lot more people are ordering "no eggs" now, even though our egg surcharge is currently $0.00 (the system updated to support it, but we decided to keep our prices steady and eat the cost... Which is now $1.12 per plate. I can see why places now have a $1 surcharge.)
I feel like Crunchyroll's ad break placement is completely random sometimes.
I just had a 160s ad break, played literally 5 seconds of episode, then played another 160 seconds of ads...
Got some glue on my fingers and realized that since it smoothed out my thumb, the fingerprint sensor on my phone doesn't work now... Heck.
It's crazy that new smart TVs sometimes don't even HAVE Ethernet as an option, and when they do, the port is capped at like 1/3 of the wifi speed they can hit...
I'm still likely going to wire it in just for the stability and the fact that there's an Ethernet port just below it, but still!
Funny how we're supposed to use grapes within 5 days of them arriving to us, but these crates were packed back in NOVEMBER.
So I had some nice pants that I accidentally splattered bleach on and wanted to save. So I figured I'd re-dye them a different color.
The bottle did have a warning that bleached areas may not hold onto dye as well.
Welp, the pants are finally dry enough to say: the bottle was right.
It's way better than it was, but the rest of the pants are completely black (I was going for a deep blue...) and the splatters are still definitely there...
Oh well. They were a write-off anyways.
so a game that I followed the development for for a while had a google sheet with like project status and everything, but work stagnated for a while, so instead of checking in every so often, I just told it to email me every time that sheet got updated.
Nothing for the longest time.
Literally not a peep for 16 months.
Suddenly last week it just sent me like 5 notifications over a few days about edits to the sheet. Legitimately they went from almost nothing of note done beyond the basic scope to actually finishing two entire story arcs.
I can't see exactly what's been changed, since I don't have access to the version history, but it's finally over halfway done!
And from what I recall, it seems it's all one team member taking charge and banging this all out, so I'm excited!
I'm used to going to cons with friends who I know super well and see pretty often outside of cons.
This is the first time that I've roomed with people I only know online.
I had a great time with them, and am gonna miss them a lot. But because of that, I don't know when I'm gonna see them again, if ever.
So I'm still here for another day and a half, but I'm already having the start of PCD.
@finny my latest one accidentally put us all into a group text instead of just bulk-sending the message. Amateur hour over here!
About to go on a trip, but all my tracking things are complaining about dying batteries, but I packed up all my batteries because I'm also moving soon >.<
