Museum Station in #Sydney from a "recent" trip. Its only been half a year but because it was summer back there and now its summer here it feels like a longer time. This is definitely no high #photography with a godly composition, more like a #snapshot . A touristy thing but I liked the way this station looked.

Fun fact about the train cars in Sydney: the seats are transformable to make the rows to two facing seats.

Another #photography without anything in focus really. Well, the woman to the right is, but she is almost nothing more than a shadow. I really like #streetphotography as a concept. Documenting the every day life of people, faces, moments, freezing life through time. But these are not only subjects in my photos but also real people that first and foremost have rights. Especially true if those people are minors (there are some cute scenes I haven't event attempted to photograph because it feels wrong.) This kind of picture is basically the upper limit of what I feel confident to publish without asking the people first.

I actually got a few nice portrait shots while in Vienna that I would have loved to give the person in question but I have no technical way to do this. (I needed to get the picture from camera and then transfer, iPhones have AirDrop but I got an Android)

Anyway, I digress, the composition of this one is to my liking although my RawTherapee touch was as always very light because I don't know what I am doing.

Apparently it is #fotomontag in german speaking Pixelfed. And I see myself doing more #photography of other people doing photos. This one was shortly after a thunderstorm which gives everything a nice saturated light but for some reasons I found this shot the best one. Its very green and there are probably 10 things that might better for the composition, and yet, this one invokes some serene feeling in me.

I technically shot this one as RAW, so I put it through RawTherapee but the only thing I did was doing like -0.3 EV.

This is not even my cat. I was walking about in my neighbourhood. There is a small patch of grass and a little stream running through it. I think the owner was a girl sitting on a bench a bit further, but I might be mistaken, maybe that cat belongs to someone else in the nearby housing complex.

Anyway, that cat was very friendly, actually leaped over the little stream to me and asked for skritches. Unfortunately I couldn't really capture the leap, that might have been a good #photography in itself. However, I quite like this portrait shot.

Apparently I played around with my camera settings and I only got a RAW of this image, or rather, a RAW in the ORF Format. Long story short, I still have absolutely no clue how to handle RAWs. The theory is known but I got no experience or artistic feelings in actually making a given #photography better. As a nerd I got no Lightroom (which got all the tutorials) but Darktable. But, there are so many settings. Therefore my laptop defaulted to Krita and there are only a few knobs. I tried a bit around and this is the result. I think in reality it was a bit less warm but i kinda like the look of it. But there might be something more in here.

This is an ancient picture I found while sifting through old #photography (okay, thats a blatant lie, its touristy photos)

As far as I can see this are the cliffs of England, according to the exif data that very well might be wrong, it was the 21th of February in 2007 around 4 p.m. I am quite sure the camera was capable of more than 1280x960, but this are all pixels I got. Storage was at a premium in the olden days I guess.

Another hobby I got besides #photography , its a #fountainpen . Apparently the proper handling of them is not really taught in many schools around the globe, but I grew up with them. This photo was made when I was refilling this TWSBI eco in a spur of the moment. Unfortunately I don't own any macro lenses for such occasions but the lighting straight to the jpeg looked surprisingly good.

If you are reading this and considering a fountain pen for yourself..its an expensive hobby. Lamys tend to dry out quickly but are cheap and good. Theses TWSBI are quite sealed but sometimes the nib is a lottery and not all of them are perfect. Also they are very susceptible to iso-propranolol, something to be aware of.

Just some artificial plants on a balcony. The draw in solar light into a battery during the day and shine bright in the night. I am still unsure if I like that.

The #photography might be improvable with some light room therapy but as of now, I still don't know how that works.

June 2023 - still a metal festival

Basically the follow up to https://pixelfed.social/p/BurnoutDV/808701551471721410

Leipzig, 2023

I actually altered this #photography a bit. Its not true to what came from my camera. Technically number plates should be unproblematic as laypeople cannot do a lot with them, but I would rather err on the site of save than sorry. So here we are, my 20 seconds attempt on obscuring plates. Please forgive me.

This is Leipzig, a city with a lot of green stuff in it. There are other cities that have that as well but this is Leipzig. I quite like that city, still miss it. Technically speaking, all the foliage at the walls is probably horrible for moisture, but at least in summer it looks so neat. It also hides the ugly eastern bloc buildings behind it.

This might look like a quick shot at 3d rendering, but is in fact a #photography . The glossiness of the floor makes it look a bit surreal, but apparently this is what a gym hall looks like. I kinda like the ceiling as well. All in all the architecture of a bygone era.

June 2023 - a metal festival

If this #photography had a name, I would call it "surrender". There was some rain and those kinds of festivals usually take place on empty fields with rather poor drainage. After a few days of downpour this is what the main road the the camp site looked like. Usually they throw in some wood chips or similar stuff to easy the swamping. But this particular festival is known for their very profit driven behaviour.

This is an interesting picture for me. Its not mine in the first place, I was walking with some friends here through Melbourne and my photo got a car in it that blocks the view. But one of my friends had the exact same idea as me. I think this picture could use some cropping to be more worthy of #photography

I really really like those bokeh effects sometimes. This one is another one that came straight from the camera. Microfourthirds isnt the form factor that got the strongest bokeh but this 45mm prime is quite nice for that. I think this picture was made in Straßbourg, but it doesnt really matter, those rentals are everywhere. Anyway, I think this is #photography

Lake Pukaki, New Zealand - January 2025

Distance camera to water, less than 5 centimetres. This is actually the second picture I uploaded of Mt. Cook. It looks quite photogenic, this is a slightly different angle but the same mountain. I quite like this picture, it has a certain post card character. As many places in New Zealand. The country got a lot of nothing going for it, but also a lot of landscapes.

A very blue picture. Blue Sky, a bit of white in form of a mountain in the distance that is Mt. Cook. Blue water on the bottom half, some green smidges that are trees at the horizon line. The pictures appears to be made only a few centimetes above the water of a lake

It is quite decent, but its also a photo made in broad daylight, although night photos are still somewhat good. Only problem..there is no successor, this S20FE was the last one with an SD card slot..which is something that is important to me. Real shame

Paris, July 2024, somewhere close to the Tour Eiffel

While there is apparently a whole syndrome about Paris being disappointing for Japanese tourists, I personally found the city very satisfying. It was exactly as I imagined it. All the capital city stuff with homeless people, tourism, trash problems and vandalism was there, as I would expect from any bigger city. But, those buildings you see in the movies? They were also around, everywhere, for kilometres. This #photography shot was made quite late into a day long walk around the city, here on the way to the Tour Eiffel, and there were a lot of corners that just look THAT paris-like.

For many places, there is only really one street or corner that looks like in the advertisement. York for instance had some streets that were like that, but overall it is an English city. Paris has a huge centre that is all "Paris as in movie". This specific corner was maybe a bit more clean, but in general, its mostly exactly like I imagined it to be. That is a first.

Another phoneshoot that I find "good" enough for the #photography
There is a certain contrast between the "Disko" and the glass palaces of the ultra rich surrounding it.
Photography wise..I actually cropped this one a bit to set it more in focus. I am completely clueless and should read up about proper framing of an image, but this seems a bit better. Probably something about the saturation can be done also. Grey London desaturates pictures a bit.
